Have you ever spent an extended period at one RV park or campground? By “extended” we mean staying continuously for 3 months or more.
If so, how often have you done this? Is it something you’ve done several times, a few times, or maybe just once or twice? Or perhaps it’s a regular part of your RV lifestyle, with long-term stays being a routine part of your travels?
On the other hand, maybe you’ve never stayed in one place for that long and prefer to keep moving.
For many RVers, long stays come with perks—lower monthly rates, fewer hookups and breakdowns, and a chance to really get to know a place and the people around them. For others, staying put too long can feel confining, especially when the open road is calling.
After you cast your vote in the poll, we’d love to hear more about your experiences in the comments section. Have you enjoyed settling into one spot for a while, or is the freedom to roam a key part of your RVing journey?
Feel free to share any tips, stories, or reasons for your preference. We always appreciate hearing from you and learning about your unique adventures on the road. Thanks for being here!

We are Workampers, of course we stay longer than 3 months!
As snowbirds since 2017, we have gradually lengthened our time away from cold winter temps. We now stay gone from home 4-5 months and stay in the same campground at least 4 months.
We are on the road for 3.5 months every winter, but not in one place. We like moving around.
Winters for us were 5 months in Baja Mexico, Tampa, and Houston. Summers were moving every 2-4 days.
Our larger RV trailer (soon to be an RV tiny home) is stationary in a Texas RV park and used half a year; much as the house, stationary since 1906 near Lake Superior in Michigan is used half a year. We also roam as we have a small SUV towed TT for the migration and for adventures away from our two base camps. We’ve embraced a wide swath of RVing, but will likely hang up the keys and make the tiny home our FT residence in a few years.
We are now spending the winter Ocala, FL. Will work our way back north to spend the summer visiting family and friends in New England.
We are Winter Texans 1st of Nov thru mid-April. 2022 Montana 3121Rl
For 2 years in a row I spent 6+ months in a nice RV park in Southern Ca, (Now not there anymore, turned into expensive condos).
I worked in the winter months and RVed Spring-fall, seeing all the western US states.
A great life!
I had to answer no as we do it as camp hosts. We have never booked more than 4 night stay at a park (like visiting our kids on way through the area).
Technically no, but …
1984 We had our own 17′ trailer, seasonal housing was otherwise unavailable, so we were allowed to live in it for the summer, in the seasonal housing area at the CA state park we worked in.
2015 We had just retired, we’d bought a new RV in 2012, MIL wanted to go back to her home for the summer, so we set up with water & electric at her place May through September to be available for her.
I have friends who are sunbirds, they go way up north to escape the heat of the gulf of Mexico. I would rather visit other locations.
Our snowbird parks in AZ
Longest has been three weeks.
Though full time for 16 years, we go back to Michigan each summer to visit our 10 kids, 17 grandkids, & 5 great grandkids, so we spend 3-4 months in one spot. We then wander the other 8-9 months.
We are travelers, not campers. We snowbirded a month in Las Cruces years ago and in Tucson in 2019-20. But 8 days is the longest anywhere since 2020 and normally no more than 3-4 days in one place. We love dry camping and boondocking, but run out of tank space in 4-5 days.
Hello to fellow campers everywhere!
Went through a divorce back in 2023, moved to a campground in Indiana in my 21 ft camper. Still in it! And I love it!! Love it so much that I got myself a job at the campground! I’m 63 and work in the maintenance department. I weedeat, mow, paint, clean, and help decorate for holidays. Best job ever!!
Don’t need to go to a gym, get all the exercise I need, between raking leaves, weed eating, shoveling snow, and painting buildings, its always a good workout!
It has been an AWESOME adventure!!
This snowbird stays in the same FL campground for 4 months each winter. Love being warm and this park has access to all the things I love to do!
I had to work a little farther than doing the daily commute so I put my trailer at a very cool place near the beach. In the summer the rates would jump 2 1/2 times so I would move for a couple of weeks to an actual beachfront location, and then to a less expensive place for June, July and August. I would then go back to the beach and then back to my 9 month spot. Good times!
