2024 Salem Hemisphere Hyper-Lyte 27RKHL travel trailer

In the video below, we join the team from J and A Review for a tour of the 2024 Salem Hemisphere Hyper-Lyte 27RKHL travel trailer.

Starting with the outside, you will see that this trailer has a LARGE pass-through storage space.

The outdoor kitchen has a surprisingly large fridge and is further outfitted with a griddle and a spray port.

The interior looks large and roomy, especially the rear kitchen—a floor plan I am always fond of. There is a LOT of counter space here, and with the slide room out, a lot of living and dining space, too. It’s well-appointed with a 3-burner stove, small oven, microwave, and an almost-floor-to-ceiling 12-volt compressor fridge and freezer. I love the HUGE sink, especially since I am usually complaining about too-small sinks in RVs. You’ll also find a TON of kitchen storage and pantry space.

The bathroom features plenty of room, including headroom in the shower. The bedroom is prepped for a washer/dryer, if you want to give up some of your closet space. That would not be difficult, as hanging wardrobe closets flank the almost-king-sized bed.

What’s not to like?

I can never understand RV manufacturers who make RVs with larger gray water tanks than fresh water. This one is a whopping 13 gallons bigger! More fresh water, less gray water, PLEASE. Have these people ever actually used an RV?

The oven in this one is particularly tiny, especially in comparison to the size of the rest of the kitchen.

In the down/sleeping position, you lose all the walk-around space in the bedroom. That means if the person sleeping on the outside edge of the trailer gets up in the middle of the night, they will likely disturb their partner.

Also, ignore the part of the video that says you can tow this with a well-equipped half-ton truck. Just because you technically CAN do something does not mean that you should.

I don’t understand how Mfgs get off calling something “Hyper-Lyte” when the trailer weighs 6758 pounds dry and has a 725 pound tongue weight, again dry. I agree with Cheri – don’t even think of towing this trailer with a ½ ton pickup!

Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 It must be tiring to go to so much work — searching videos for something new or different, finding and reviewing it, summarizing it in text, adding specs from the manufacturer’s website — and hearing the crickets chirp. 🤔😯🙁 Thank goodness for Tommy and a few others to demonstrate that it was not all in vain. 🙂 Have a great Friday/weekend, safe travels, and thanks for all the work, effort, and, most of all, patience with us who read RV Travel! 🙂
