Is this the ULTIMATE truck camper? The 100K Eagle Cap 1200

In the video above we join Drew Anthony for a tour of what might be the ultimate truck camper, the Eagle Cap 1200. When I saw a truck camper priced at $100K, I had to see what was up with that. Now, I am not sure it’s worth all that, but it is a mighty nice truck camper!

It’s important to note that Adventurer Manufacturing acquired Eagle Cap in 2011, and they have been building quality campers for more than 50 years.

This truck camper is a MONSTER—weighing nearly 5,400 pounds (the video says more but I went by the manufacturer’s specs), with three slide rooms, and boasting over 100 square feet of living space!

You have to watch the video to appreciate this unique truck camper. Once inside you would NEVER guess it was a truck camper, having the feel of a far larger motorhome.

The kitchen, in one of the slides, is a dream, with a HUGE amount of counter space. What I like best is the enormous 8-cubic-foot refrigerator and, better still, it is a gas/electric fridge, which are getting harder to find in new RVs these days. There are LARGE double stainless steel sinks, a pullout pantry, a 3-burner stove and a convection microwave oven.

The bathroom is a dry bath, literally unheard of in most truck campers. You’ll also find a MASSIVE wardrobe closet and clothing drawers in the bathroom.

The over-cab bedroom features a 72″x84″ California King bed and more storage.

More nice features of the Eagle Cap 1200 truck camper

Eagle Cap 1200 truck camper interior

  • 3-year structural warranty
  • Thermal pane windows
  • Insulated baggage doors
  • Welded aluminum frame
  • 4-season insulation
  • True composite construction
  • 30,000 BTU furnace
  • 15,000 BTU AC
  • Pop-up tables on each of the recliners
  • Power awning
  • 2,500-watt propane generator
  • HappiJac wireless remote electric jacks

What’s not to like?

A monster camper like this is going to need a MONSTER truck to haul it around.

If a traditional oven is important to you, this camper lacks one. But with a convection microwave, you don’t really need it.

Of course, even though money is relative, the price ($100,000) is something to give one pause.

For $100,000. I’d want a range with a full size oven. Never cooked in a convection microwave, but read where one owner didn’t like it.

Wouldn’t buy with Schwintek slides. Sofa and recliners seem cheap looking.

Sorry, but this is insane. You’re in for at least $200,000 to get this rig on the road. $100k for the camper and another $100k for the truck. And then all you have is a top-heavy truck camper. Sleeps six? Right. Where do all these ‘sleepers’ sit and eat? Seems like the mfg is trying to put 10 pounds of stuff in a 5-pound box. Just sayin’.

My guess is all in cost will be closer to 250-300k – even more insane.

According to the website https://www.amlrv.com/eaglecap, they stopped manufacturing these in 2022 to focus on other campers.

You don’t suppose lack of sales had something to do with it, do you? 😀

I paid $48K for our 2017 EC 1200. Where did you come up with $100K?

The picture you showed of the interior is of the EC 1600. As such, I am calling B.S. on this whole article!

The EC 1200 and 1600 are really comfortable rigs. You definitely need a capable truck to haul them.

I took a tour of the factory in Yakima Washington where these were built. Huge camper to say the least. Ended up purchasing a HOST Mammoth camper, which we love.
