In a giant-size recall covering three model years, a Toyota recall will affect a million owners in the U.S. alone. Toyota is recalling certain 2020 through 2022 model year vehicles including various Avalon, Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Lexus ES250, ES300H, ES350, RX350 Highlander and Sienna Hybrid vehicles. A short circuit in the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensors could cause air bags not to deploy as designed. The sensors ensure air bags do not deploy if a small adult or child is sitting in the front seat.
Remedy
Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the OCS sensors, and, if necessary, replace them at no cost to owners. For all involved vehicles, Toyota will notify customers by the middle of February 2024.
