Who knew box truck RV conversions could be so elegant?

By Cheri Sicard
In the video below we meet Eric and Ashley of Create Your Own Roadshow as they give us a tour of their amazing box truck RV conversion aka “Boxanne”. Who knew something as utilitarian as a box truck could turn into an elegant tiny home on wheels? Best of all, this off-grid box truck RV conversion looks normal from the outside, so the couple is able to stealth camp nearly anywhere!

Boxanne started life as a 2015 GMC Savana 3500 cutaway with a J & B box. Built on the short-base chassis, she measures just 18’ in length and weighs 9,100 pounds.

The couple started out traveling in a van. When ready to upgrade they knew they wanted a box truck because they wanted to be able to stand up inside, and also the straight lines of the truck made the overall RV conversion build easier.

The truck was a blank box when the couple bought it. Watch the video to appreciate all the changes they made, along with commentary from the designer and builder himself.

When it comes to budgeting, the truck itself cost $36,000, then they put another $20,000 into converting it into an RV.

Rather than describe the innovative design features they incorporated into the build, it is best to see them in action in the video to get a true appreciation of this unique RV. Overall, it is mighty impressive, although if it were mine, I would have found some way to incorporate a wet bath. But different folks have different priorities.

Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Really interesting video. They certainly used their van experiences to great advantage when they built this. Inside shower pretty important to me, but we tend to travel in lots of different weather and temperates. They may tend to move with milder outside temperatures. Thanks again, have a wonderful week, and SAFE travels! 🙂
