Top 10 California oceanside campsites countdown!

The folks at Trailer Hitch RV Center chose these California oceanside campsites based on user reviews.

#10 Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area, Oceano, CA:
An outstanding destination for beach and motorsports enthusiasts, you can park your RV right on the beach and take your ATVs all over the sand dunes. Deflate your tires to prevent getting stuck in the sand. No Wi-Fi or hookups, and do be mindful of the tides!  Watch the video for more tips.

#9 Jalama Beach County Park, Lompoc, CA:
This Santa Barbara County RV park is one of my personal favorite camping spots anywhere. Anglers, surfers, windsurfers, and beachcombers alike will love it here. Be sure to have a famous Jalama Burger at the camp store. Campsites on the sand are available without hookups, or electric hookups are available in the upper campground. No water or sewer service, although the park does have showers. The group camp also makes an affordable place to host a beachside gathering of friends and family.

#8 Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort, Oceano, CA:
Park in one of their 229 campsites and rent a horse to go riding on the beach! Full hookups and Wi-Fi are available along with easy beach and hiking trail access.

#7 Morro Dunes RV Park, Morro Bay, CA:
Wake up to views of the iconic Morro Rock. This is prime marine life viewing territory, including pelicans, otters, and dolphins. Full hookups and even a dog park await at Morro Dunes RV Park.

#6 Port San Luis Harbor District, Avila Beach, CA:
Another prime marine life viewing campground, in the right season whales have been known to breach here so close to shore that you don’t need a whale watching cruise. You’ll find lots of nearby restaurants and amenities along with breathtaking ocean views.

#5 Carpinteria State Beach, Carpinteria, CA:
Miles of sandy beach and excellent surf fishing await visitors to Carpinteria State Beach, just south of Santa Barbara. There’s no Wi-Fi offered, but 4G service here is reportedly good. They do have full hookups.

#4 Oceano Campground at Pismo State Beach, Pismo Beach, CA:
Known for hiking, fishing, surfing, and clamming for Pismo clams!

#3 Ocean Mesa RV Campground (now Sun Outdoors Santa Barbara), Goleta, CA:
Oceanside camping with full hookups and lots of resort amenities, including a heated pool, await here.

#2 Faria Beach Park, Ventura, CA:
This Ventura County RV park lets you camp steps from the sand. A limited number of sites offer full hookups. There’s also a camp store and snack bar on the premises. Fall asleep to the sound of the surf and wake up to awe-inspiring views of the Channel Islands.

#1 Pismo Coast Village RV Resort, Pismo Beach, CA:
An award-winning, nationally recognized RV resort offers a luxury RV beach experience with lots of amenities. Within walking distance of the Pismo Beach Pier and all of Pismo Beach’s shops and restaurants. If all that were not enough, there is even an on-site RV repair shop! (Why don’t more RV parks do this?)

I was surprised to see that Refugio state beach wasn’t mentioned as it is the most difficult one for us to reserve an available site because of its huge popularity. It is a beautiful setting within a few yards of the beach.
