One thing about visiting Quartzsite, AZ, in the winter, you can find all kinds of crazy RVs made from just about every imaginable type of vehicle. In the video below we join Mark Guido of Grand Adventure in Quartzsite for a tour of one such unusual RV, Spencer Siebold’s fire truck RV conversion, nicknamed “Large Marge.”
Marge began her life as a 1976 Ford C800 fire truck. She saw her share of duty but has now found new life in her “retirement” as Spencer’s tiny home.
The video begins with Spencer’s account of acquiring his fire truck. It was not what he planned, as he had intended on custom building a spartan-type of trailer.
However, he looked at used fire trucks at the suggestion of his wife because they are well-maintained but usually sell for low prices at auction. When Spencer found this one, the previous owner had already converted it into a basic RV.
Spencer’s fire truck RV weighs 19,000 pounds and gets about 10 mpg, which actually is not bad (for an RV or a fire truck).
One of the big advantages of the fire truck RV is all the many external storage compartments. Inside it’s a man cave on wheels with a small kitchen area, bedroom, and basic bath facilities.
Spencer added some nice touches to what the first owner started, including extra lighting, flip-up tables, more storage, and a stove. He has a 4,000-watt generator, a black tank, a gray tank, 40 gallons of fresh water, and a water heater.
So, what do you think of Large Marge? Leave your thoughts on Spencer’s fire truck RV in the comments below.

Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Really interesting conversion. Extremely utilitarian and, particularly the storage bays, lacking elegance, but generally efficiently orderly. Although it is large, the aging of the paint prevents it from calling excessive attention to itself. Clearly it is no longer a fire truck, but neither is it obviously an RV when moving along a roadway or parked on a street; rather stealthy. Thanks again for an interesting video! Have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
Thanks for the repost!
