Amazing flower pot cooking with just three briquettes!

By Cheri Sicard
In the video below, the Carolina Cowboy of Carolina Cowboy Cooking introduces us to an unusual camping cooking method—flower pot cooking! The Cowboy uses an ordinary terra cotta flower pot he picked up for just $2.48 and three (count them) charcoal briquettes. That’s all you need.

The Cowboy was even more resourceful in his choice of fire starters. Believe it or not, he used a Dorito tortilla chip to light his three briquettes. Yes, I did say Dorito as opposed to Doritos, one chip was all that was needed. Watch the video to see how.

Once the fire was going, it was time to put it to the test. The Cowboy used his tiny grill to cook a burger. I have to say that flower pot cooking did a fantastic job.

When I first started watching this video, I thought it was more of a novelty or a good survival skill to have. However, after watching it, I think I just might pick up a flower pot.  As I often travel solo, this would be perfect for a quick grilled meal for one. I bet there will even be enough heat left over for s’mores! Van lifers and car campers who are super tight on space might also want to give flower pot cooking a try.
