RV Christmas decorating: Stunning mini Christmas tree WOW!

By Cheri Sicard
In the video below, we join Nick from the HomeTalk YouTube channel as he creates a show-stopping decorated mini Christmas Tree. No, the video was not specifically made for RVers, but as space is always an issue for RVers, RV Christmas decorating can be a challenge. Especially the tree!

Nick to the rescue. His design is small enough to sit on a table or counter or tuck away in an open corner. It resembles those HUGE, gorgeous, classically decorated Christmas trees that fill the lobbies of big buildings or the White House lawn but shrunk down to a tiny size.

The price of supplies to do this RV Christmas decorating project is so low that you won’t feel bad about leaving it behind in a thrift store donation bin after the holidays (or save for next year if you have the place/space).

Nick owns a business that sells ribbons, craft supplies, and seasonal décor, so of course he used his own products in the video. You can get similar items at a dollar store and/or craft store.

You can probably find a mini Christmas tree there, too. In the video, Nick uses a small artificial tree that was designed to be placed in front of headstones. If your tree does not have a spike on the end like the one in the video, I am sure you could hollow the foam a bit and simply use the tree base instead. Or you could use this same design on a small live tree in a pot, then plant it somewhere after the holidays.

Be sure to watch the video to see how it all comes together, but here are the basic steps:

#1 Nick takes a small wooden box, cuts some dry foam to fit in the bottom, and glues the foam to the box.

#2 Next, Nick ribbons the tree. Rather than try to tell you how to do this, it’s best to watch him in action in the video. It’s not a difficult process at all, but the results are stunning. Also note that the technique Nick demonstrates is the same one he uses on giant trees, as well.

#3 Next, he adds in some artificial red berries and completes the classic look with miniature Christmas ornaments. Nick found his at Walmart, where they come 20 to a package, plenty to complete this tree.

What do you think of Nick’s mini Christmas tree design? Do you have other tips for RV Christmas decorating? Be sure to leave them in the comments below.

Thank you, Cheri! I can hardly wait to see this. Meanwhile, the Arbor Day Foundation sent us a small (~12″) potted evergreen shaped like a Christmas tree for a small (~$20) donation. They included several small gold plastic ornaments. We can enjoy it for years to come, if I can keep from killing it before we plant it in the yard. Merry Christmas! 🙂
