RV Fun: Put up a trail cam and prepare to be amazed

By Cheri Sicard
The video below from RV Lifestyle has a fun proposition. Put up a trail cam when camping or boondocking.

Have you ever wondered what happens around your campsite in the national forest or when out in the wilderness? Especially during those times when your dogs start barking for no apparent reason? A trail cam can show you.

Our host says he even sets his cams up when he is in an RV park as they are also good for security purposes.

In the video, we get to see what the trail cam picked up while the RV Lifestyle team was out camping in the woods. You’ll also get to see the battery-operated cameras that simply strap to a tree. These are the cameras they use and recommend.

The cameras were inexpensive and easy to use. However, know you can get more sophisticated trail cams with Wi-Fi capabilities and alerts that will let you know when something is happening, and more.

There certainly was a lot of activity with a variety of deer stopping by to check things out. A rather large coyote walked past, too, plus a rabbit, a fox, and lots more deer.

Have you ever used a trail cam? Share what you discovered in the comments below.

Game cams are fun. We once bought some bologna in a can (yuk!) from a Dollar Store in Quartzsite. It was horrible stuff. So I plopped it out of the can and set it on the ground a good bit away from our trailer. I set up my game camera on a tripod about 15 feet from this stuff to see what the wildlife would do overnight. Come morning it looked untouched. Sure enough, not ONE visitor even looked at it. It was that bad! I scooped it up and put it in the trash. I never leave home without our game cam!

Good idea. I have four around my yard and see a lot of deer, fox, raccoon and rabbits of course! If you take one on the road – be sure to add it to your departure checklist!!
