Hoses, water filters, pressure regulators, pressure gauges, and splitters, oh my! There is a lot to think about when it comes to RV water. But fear not, in the video below, Jared Gillis from All About RVs (one of the winners of our 2024 RV video awards) is here to help!
How to set up RV water is a frequent question Jared receives, so he felt it was high time to make a video about it as proper RV water connections will protect your rig from bursting pipes and potentially expensive RV plumbing problems.
The correct RV water connection order
What order to connect gadgets and hoses causes indecisiveness and stress in many RV newbies.
Jared says it will depend on your equipment and your situation. This may sound strange, but in the video, he gives two simple solutions that will work for most RVers and RVs. The best order to connect RV water will depend on the season and the temperature.
Jared says there are more than six different ways that you can connect RV water equipment and hoses, as he demonstrates in the video. He shares what methods have worked best for him over the years. However, there are certain scenarios when you might want to change the order.
Rather than narrate the various scenarios here, it is better to watch the video as Jared demonstrates connection setups for cold and hot weather, as well as under what conditions you might want to vary them. He also shares essential information to increase water pressure, rate the equipment you are using, pressure regulator tips, adapters, and more.

in any case, if you use one of those “bulitt-type” filters let it lay horizontally on the ground- not vertically. They are designed to work best lying flat. If you use a canister-type then the opposite is true.
I’ve often wondered if there was a correct way to set up the water. This video confirms that I’m doing it correctly.
Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Good information, particularly the cold-weather setup. Thanks again, have a great week, and safe travels! 🙂
