20 tiny trailer storage tips to keep your RV organized

By Cheri Sicard
The 20 tiny trailer storage tips in the video below from Mandy Lea of Mandy Lea Photo will help you keep your tiny RV organized.

Mandy is a full-time nomad, living in a tiny teardrop-style trailer with her partner, Kendrick. Staying organized is one of the factors in making full-time life in a teardrop work for them. The video focuses on nüCamp TAB or TAG trailers, but the tips will work in other tiny spaces or even larger ones.

Mandy begins by sharing her own tiny trailer storage tips, followed by some other amazing ideas she and Kendrick have come across while meeting other RVers also traveling with tiny trailers.

Mandy Lea’s top 20 tiny trailer storage tips

#1 Airscape clear canisters: These airtight containers keep foods like coffee or tea fresh, their square design does not waste space, and you can see what’s inside.

#2 Shelf for kitchen counter: Mandy found this narrow portable shelf that fits perfectly behind the sink in the bath section of a home goods store. Find a similar shelf here and secure with Velcro so that it does not move when your trailer does.

#3 Hanging closet rod: Mandy and Kendrick turned their bathroom into a closet. Not something I would have done, but it works for them. Of course, this accessory lets them securely hang clothes.

#4: Hanging shoe organizer: Shoe storage is always a problem, even in larger RVs, but this hanging shoe storage bag solves the problem for Mandy and Kendrick. I also use one of these in one of my hanging closets, but I don’t use it for shoes. I am able to roll and stuff tons of T-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, bathing suits, and leggings in there.

#5: Hanging baskets at the foot of the bed: These baskets hang down at the foot of the couple’s bed in what would otherwise be wasted space. They store hats, socks, underwear, and other small clothing items. Hang with hooks.

#6: Collapsible kitchen table/cabinets: When they get to camp, the couple uses these amazing collapsible kitchen cabinets to keep all the gear from the outdoor kitchen conveniently at hand. They also provide food prep counter space. When it’s time to move, it all packs into the teardrop’s kitchen storage space and the collapsible cabinets fold down until next time.

#7: A STRONG knife magnet strip: This gadget stores all the couple’s knives up against the kitchen wall where they are out of the way yet easy to get to.

#8: Plastic wall organizer bins with cord holes: Plastic pouches mounted to the wall are handy for lots of small items including phones and other electronics as the hole in the bottom allows room for a cord so you can charge from the wall pouch. They’d also make good toothbrush storage in the bathroom.

#9: Glasses holder: This wall-mounted tiny trailer storage accessory lets you keep your glasses right next to the bed, or anywhere else in the RV you might use them.

#10 Closet organizer: These hanging closet organizers hold socks, underwear, and other small items.

#11 Shoe Caddy Mod: No links to this as it was a DIY mod the couple did to their tiny trailer’s door. Watch the video at point 5:10 to see how it works.

#12 and #13 Shelves/Rods/Drawers and Tension Rods:  This part of the video shows how to expand storage in a Teardrop RV kitchen. Watch the video at point 6:00 to see how one teardrop owner increased kitchen storage with easy-to-install shelves, tension rods, and cutlery drawers.

#14 Removable shelf for a TAG trailer (DIY): Find this simple removable shelf, that the RV owner in the video uses to hold a small heater in cold weather and a small fan in warm weather, at point 6:38 in the video. It fits perfectly over the TAG’s door handles to go on and off in just a second. Brilliant!

#14 Sea Biscuit Metal Designs Tongue Boxes: These sturdy metal tongue boxes store all kinds of things on the exterior of your trailer.

#15 Shoe-bag storage: In the video, they use this handy shoe storage bag to store more than shoes, including hardware, hoses, and other supplies inside the above-mentioned metal tongue box.

#16, 17, 18, and 19: The camper at the 8:00 minute mark in the video has lots of tips including a portable table with storage underneath,  shoe baskets by the door, and these delightful multi-color, solar, LED lights. (OK, that’s not storage but they are cute.) She also uses wicker fishing baskets for stylish tiny trailer RV storage.

#20: Magazine racks: These wall-mounted magazine racks keep books and papers neat and out of the way.
