If you’re driving one these cars, stop or risk danger

If you drive any of the vehicles below, stop right now. You could be in danger.

If your vehicle is a 2003 or 2004 Toyota Corolla sedan, 2003 or 2004 Toyota Matrix hatchback or 2004 or 2005 Toyota RAV4 SUV, Toyota does not want you to drive it until a dealership replaces a potentially hazardous recalled airbag. These defective airbags can rupture, projecting sharp metal pieces into the vehicle, posing a grave risk of injury or death to occupants.

The repair won’t cost you anything. Toyota urges owners not to drive to the dealership for replacement. The dealer will perform the replacement on-site or arrange for towing at no expense to the car’s owner.

To determine if your vehicle is among those affected by the recall, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Safety Issue & Recalls page and input your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), located at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side when viewed from the outside.

Thank you, RV Travel! My goodness! I’ve never heard of such. This must be the most extreme recall that has ever happened! I wonder how Toyota figured out that the airbags pose such a great risk? Air bag manufacturer? Estates of those already killed by the defective airbag? None of the above? Still, thank you for forwarding this information! 🙂

One of our Toyotas was in the recall. Airbag kit was replaced by one of the local dealerships last week. Very impressed with how efficiently the service department took care of the repair.
