Tour the 2024 Northstar TC650 pop-up truck camper—small and stealth

Parker, of Parker’s POV, gives us a tour of the 2024 Northstar TC650 pop-up truck camper, the second smallest camper that Northstar offers.

This camper is made for full-sized trucks that have a short bed.

I LOVE the fact that you can use this camper in stealth mode—in other words, you do not have to raise the pop-up in order to use it. I also love that it has a reinforced floor that allows you to take it off the truck and still use the camper without a base under it.

The pop-up can support 300 pounds of weight on the roof in the closed position and 100 pounds on the roof in the open position.

The camper in the video has several optional features that do not come standard, including:

  • Small gray water tank
  • Auto-ignition water heater with outdoor shower port
  • Sub-zero package

Watch the video, as there are many more optional features you could choose.

While the camper lacks a bathroom, it does have kitchen facilities, including a 2-burner Dometic cooktop, a small sink, and a small Dometic 2-way fridge. The dinette has a tiny table and, of course, it also converts to a bed.

More nice features of the 2024 Northstar TC650

  • Northstar is a family-owned and operated RV company that has been producing truck campers since 1961.
  • Cast iron corners reinforce the pop-top
  • Reinforced back wall
  • Aluminum trim
  • Pop-up vanity and mirror
  • Lots of storage under and alongside the main bed
  • Automatic electric pop-top
  • Queen-sized bed
  • Multi-function windows
  • Maxxair fan

What’s not to like?

The biggest issue for me is the lack of a bathroom, but that may or may not be important to you.

The back door is short, but there’s a good reason for it, so I don’t necessarily see it as a negative. Having the short door allowed them to reinforce the camper’s back wall.

The camper does not come with steps, so you are on your own for those. It also lacks A/C.

So on a small slide-in camper, you get a fantastic fan but in a $150,000 fifth wheel, you get a mini fart fan.

But you didn’t pay $28K for the fan in the 5th wheel. Lol

Stealth? In a truck camper??? OK…
Not having a bathroom may or may not be a problem??? Ok…

Thank you, Cheri! A bathroom would have been good, but the price still makes it an attractive RV. 🙂
