Coachmen RV has dusted off a familiar name and given it a modern makeover. The Freedom Express Liberty Edition reintroduces the Liberty badge as a refreshed travel trailer series.
The Liberty Edition is aimed at buyers who want premium touches in a towable package.
A little background on Coachmen RV
Coachmen RV started in the 1960s when three Corson brothers built trailers in a small Indiana plant. Over the decades, the brand grew into a household name in RVing and today operates as a division within the Forest River family. Coachmen’s enduring heritage shows up in the company’s broad model range and dealer network.
Why the Liberty Edition is worth a look
If you liked the Freedom Express for its lightweight construction and practical floor plans, the Liberty Edition adds a layer of finish and convenience that matters when you live in your RV a little more often.
Coachmen is pitching these models as easier to tow than large fifth wheels, but with nicer interior appointments than many basic travel trailers. The result is an appealing compromise for weekend warriors, families, and couples who want comfortable stays without swapping to a Class A.
Special features
The Liberty Edition launches with distinct exterior graphics and exclusive badging to set it apart from the standard Freedom Express models.
Coachmen packaged a set of upgrades aimed at simplifying setup and improving daily comfort. It features premium interior finishes and thoughtful organizational tweaks.
Coachmen’s Freedom Express family implements vacuum-bond laminated, dual-sided Azdel composite sidewalls with a LAMILUX fiberglass exterior on many models. This construction reduces weight and improves durability compared with older framed walls.
Key specs at a glance
Freedom Express Liberty Edition floorplans launch with the 330BHJJ (bunkhouse) and the 330RKS (couples layout). The overall Freedom Express platform is built in lengths roughly from the low 20s up to the upper 30s in feet, depending on the model.
Typical gross vehicle weight ratings across the Freedom Express family range from approximately 9,000 to 10,500 pounds. Unloaded vehicle weights and hitch weights vary by floorplan, but many Ultra Lite units list UVWs from about 4,400 lb. up to roughly 8,200 lb. It also features cargo capacities commonly in the 1,500–2,700 lb. range.
Specific floor plan spec sheets and full brochures list exact hitch weights, GVWR, freshwater/gray/black tank sizes, and exterior dimensions for each model. You can find more info here.
Like it?
People towing with midsize SUVs or half-ton trucks who still want residential comforts will like this series. Upgrades include an on-demand water heater, a porcelain commode, an outdoor kitchen, and tons of storage.
Families who need bunkhouse spaces should check the 330BHJJ model (shown above). Couples who want more living space and storage without a heavy tow burden should look at the 330RKS.
Buyers who want a good balance between upscale styling and value-oriented pricing are the prime audience.
Take a look
Because floor plan differences drive real-world usability, inspect the exact Liberty Edition model you plan to buy.
- Check true cargo carrying capacity after accounting for water and propane.
- Test kitchen storage and counter height.
- Verify mattress dimensions and under-bed storage.
- Look for build details like seam sealing, hinge quality on cabinetry, and the ease of slide and awning operation.
- Coachmen’s laminated Azdel/LAMILUX walls are a plus. However, you should still examine seams, and underbelly finishes for dealer-installed options or regional variations.
Availability, pricing, and more
Coachmen has already rolled out the 2026 Liberty Edition to U.S. dealers. A Canada-specific Maple Edition is planned for select Canadian dealers later this fall.
Price listings on dealer marketplaces vary widely by floor plan and options. Examples show a broad MSRP/asking-price range depending on features and length.
Expect dealers to offer different option packages (power tongue jacks, upgraded appliance packages, solar prep, and exterior entertainment) that affect final price.

We have a 2019 freedom Express liberty 276RKDS. Love . Very dependable.
I absolutely love it except for one thing There is no hanging space at all in those little side pockets there you can hang a shirt or 5 but you can’t hang dresses I wear a lot of long dresses there is no closet in that RV It would be just fine if they would just put a closet in the RV’s they’ve stopped doing it and I don’t know why So I have to look and say where in the hell would I put my clothes fold them up and stick them in drawers they need to hang up
“Premium touches” generally add more weight to what, in the non-Liberty Edition, is a 9,000#-10,500# GVWR trailer. The majority of 1/2-ton trucks and almost none of the SUVs have the capabity to tow a travel trailer of that size. My 5.4L V-8 F-150 4×4 has a tow rating of 5,600#-9,900#, depending on cab size, transmission, and differential ratio, without even considering the number of passengers, load in the bed, altitude (3% power loss/1,000′ elevation gain), etc. If I tried to tow any of the “1/2-ton towable” Freedom Express trailers, NOT the premium Liberty Edition, and had 4 people, the trailer hitch, a generator, and some lawn chairs in it, I would very likely exceed its GCWR!
