The AstroAI AIRUN L4 portable car air pump looked great on paper and had excellent reviews. Still, I was hesitant to order it because the product description and instructions repeatedly referred to inflating car tires—even mentioning “small cars.”
I drive a lifted Ram 2500 heavy-duty truck, which is about as far from a small car as you can get. However, my truck’s recommended tire pressure is only 40 PSI, while this little compressor is capable of inflating up to 150 PSI. I figured it was worth a shot, especially since Amazon had it on sale for a price I couldn’t resist.
As fate would have it, I didn’t have to wait long to test it. Between placing my order and the two days it took to arrive, I discovered that my driver’s-side front tire was completely flat. Would this tiny cordless air compressor be up to the task? There was only one way to find out.
I’m happy to report that it passed with flying colors.
I didn’t time it exactly, but I’d estimate it took about 25 minutes to inflate my truck tire from completely flat to 40 PSI. Once it was full, I safely drove to a local tire shop, where they found that a rock had punctured the tire. Fortunately, it was repairable.
What I especially like about the AstroAI AIRUN L4 portable car air pump
Besides the fact that it successfully inflated the tire on my heavy-duty truck:
• Its compact size and light weight make it easy to carry anywhere—even in a backpack or beach bag.
• Measures just 6.49 x 2.75 x 1.96 inches and weighs only 1.12 pounds.
• Cordless operation. My previous air compressor had to be plugged in, which meant dragging out my portable power station whenever I was boondocking. Not anymore.
• USB rechargeable.
• The included quick-connect chuck snaps onto the valve stem in seconds.
• Five preset inflation modes: car, motorcycle, bicycle, ball, and custom.
• Displays pressure in four units: PSI, kPa, Bar, and kg/cm².
• One-touch operation makes it simple to use.
• Automatically shuts off when the preset pressure is reached.
• Delivers inflation up to 150 PSI.
• Large 6,600mAh battery provides more than 40 minutes of continuous runtime.
• Built-in LED light with flashlight, SOS, and strobe modes.
• USB output doubles as a power bank, allowing you to recharge your phone or other small devices in an emergency.
Since I’ve only had this compressor for a short time, I can’t comment on its long-term durability. But based on my first real-world experience, I’m extremely impressed and glad I added it to my RV toolbox.
You can order the AstroAI AIRUN L4 from Amazon. Its regular price is $66.99, but it does go on sale periodically. I picked mine up for just $39.99 (its current price, at the time of writing), making it an even better value.
