Apple Harvest Festival is first two full weekends in Oct. (NAHF)

Planning to tour historic Gettysburg this autumn; or traveling near Washington D.C., Baltimore Md. and Harrisburg Pa.? Consider routing your RV through ‘Authentic’ Adams County in south-central Pennsylvania.

National Apple Harvest Festival

For the 55th year, the National Apple Harvest Festival is being held outdoors the first two full weekends in October. It is located in the heart of Pennsylvania Apple country,

“We continue to focus on what people want when they come to an old-fashioned festival like ours,” says Andrew Robinson, festival publicity official. “We’ve adapted over the years to include dozens of new food options, as well as, craft beers, wine and distilled beverages.”

Admission tickets include all the live entertainment, attractions, exhibits and orchard bus tours. There is lots of room for RVs in several parking fields along with shuttle bus or wagon service to the festival grounds.

The Barns of Adams County

“The scenic landscape of Adams County is peppered with barns. Some are new, many are aged, many are kept alive more than a hundred years by love and restoration,” according to the Destination Gettysburg website.

“Each barn has a story of the people who built it, who have used it, for some it is a story of bloodshed.” The barns of Adams County “have become more than just a place for animals and feed.”  Discover how they have been used “for celebrations, for interpretation and for nourishment.”
