It happened in California: Man catches freeway ride on a travel trailer—VIDEO

For those who have suffered through the always-slow southbound traffic of I-15 near Barstow, California, you could probably use some relief. We’re not sure if this is the kind of relief you need, but drivers on the 15 got quite an eyeful, watching as a man caught a freeway ride on a travel trailer. It all unfolded last Monday, February 19.

Dressed for freeway ride on a travel trailer

Evidently, the roof access ladder of this Jayco trailer proved to be too much of an inducement for a freeway ride. Law enforcement dispatchers began getting calls a little after 1:00 p.m., reporting the unidentified man on the back of the towable. He couldn’t help but stand out, clad as he was in a flame orange jacket. And stand he did. He also danced, on the roof, of the moving RV.

Perhaps he’d never had an RV trip before, but the novelty soon wore off. He transferred himself to the roof of a nearby 18-wheeler’s trailer. Sorry, we don’t have pictures of that.

Free ride in a police car

The man eventually tired of commercial trucking, and reportedly jumped off the semi onto the ground. It was at that point when officers from the Hesperia Police Department gave him a more conventional ride. This one in a police car. A freeway ride on a travel trailer. On a semi-truck. And in the back of a patrol car. Sounds like a triple-header dream of your average kid.

I live in California and with all its problems, being born here, I will die here, so I can rightfully say as a resident and RV owner, California will now be outlawing ladders attached to RV’s.

More likely they ban RV’s as being a convenient nuisance. They’re already set to ban
diesel vehicles because of pollution concerns. Next will be vehicles that do not meet certain fuel mileage criteria. People pulling trailers will lose that ability.

Wait until the ban on ICE vehicles goes into effect and the interstates are jammed up with RVs dead with dead batteries.

Cancel, I wonder if he caused trailer sway while sitting on the back of the trailer? Driver would have been puzzled with rapid onset of sway…
