Why your RV’s insert moldings are important

Join me in the informative video below as we explore the significance of RV insert moldings. Discover how these essential components contribute to the structural integrity, weather resistance, and overall aesthetics of your RV.

Understanding RV insert moldings

What are they?

Insert moldings are the trim pieces that cover and seal the seams and joints of your RV, providing a polished and finished look.

These moldings play a crucial role in maintaining the RV’s structural integrity by holding panels and components together securely.

Properly installed insert moldings add support and stability to your RV, ensuring that all parts remain securely in place.

They help distribute stress and prevent damage from road vibrations and movements, extending the lifespan of your RV.

Improving weather resistance

Insert moldings provide a vital barrier against water, dust, and other environmental factors, preventing leaks and moisture infiltration.

By keeping water out, these moldings help prevent mold and mildew growth, protecting the interior of your RV from potential health hazards.

Enhancing aesthetics

Well-maintained insert moldings give your RV a polished, finished look, enhancing its overall aesthetics.

Available in various styles and colors, they can be customized to match your RV’s design, adding a personal touch.

Attention to detail

Paying attention to the condition and installation of insert moldings can significantly enhance the longevity and functionality of your RV.

Routine maintenance

Regular inspection and maintenance of insert moldings ensure they remain effective and continue to protect and beautify your RV.

Thumbs up! Folks, replacing the insert is not all that expensive, nor all that hard.

The time consuming part is making sure the seal between the metal molding the and roof is in good shape. I cleaned the roof edge, used painter’s tape on the face of the molding and applied non-leveling lap sealant to the top edge of the molding next to the roof.

I replaced all of the insert molding on our TT this spring. Fairly easy to do. Pay attention to how it is installed in the metal backer.
