Currently in Western Colorado, we’re battling extreme heat. Oh, it gets hot here in the summertime, I’m told. But this? This is unusually hot for so early in the summer season. It’s so hot, in fact, that previous heat records are being shattered all across the Western U.S. It’s so hot some days it feels like our RV might melt. It’s so hot RVers deserve some jokes about it!
Summers with Johnny Carson
As a teen, I’d sometimes stay up late, past the local newscast, to watch Johnny Carson. One part of his show that I really liked was when Johnny would banter with his sidekick, Ed McMahon. Johnny would say, “It’s so hot!” Together, the audience and Ed would respond, “How hot is it?” Then Johnny would deliver his punch line.
With a nod of fond remembrance for days gone by, here are some jokes about the heat. Share them with your fellow RVers. After all, joking about your challenges can often help you better endure them.
So, “How hot is it?” Hot enough for some heat jokes!
Heat’s effect on animals
It’s so hot I saw a chicken lay an omelet! That’s nothing. I saw a hen lay a hard-boiled egg!
It’s so hot the cows are giving evaporated milk!
It’s so hot the fish are already cooked when you catch ‘em.
It’s so hot I saw a bird pull a worm out of the ground with oven mitts!
It’s so hot I saw two fire hydrants fight over a dog.
Heat’s effect on clothing
It’s so hot my clothes iron themselves.
It’s so hot everyone is wearing “sweat” pants!
It’s so hot you need a spatula to remove your clothing.
Extreme heat and camping
It’s so hot our campfire lit itself!
It’s so hot our thermometer’s up to “Are you kidding me?”
It’s so hot that my dream vacation is any RV park in Alaska.
It’s so hot my ice cube maker is producing puddles.
Your turn
Add to the list of “It’s so hot …” heat jokes, but keep ‘em clean, please.
And very “warm” wishes to all of you this camping season.
If you’re hot, you’ll enjoy…

It’s so hot the trees are chasing dogs.
In Texas, it’s so hot we light the fireplace to cool the house!
While I was stationed in Vietnam, Bob Hope came and put on a great show. He had plenty of one liner jokes and the heat and humidity in that country was not left out.
From the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson: It’s so hot I saw a dog chasing a cat and they were both walking. It’s so hot a fat man was arrested at the car wash for impersonating a Buick. It’s so hot I got a cup of coffee to cool off….
Thanks for the Dad’s day Jokes.
Laughter is good for the soul! Thanks Gail! HA HA!
Gail, I’ve lived and camped in Colorado for 60 years. If it is too hot where you are on the Western Slope, all you need to do is move your RV above 7,500-8,000′ to reach daytime temps of 70-80F and nighttime temps of 45-55F. Ie., move to some place like Grand Mesa, Ouray-Silverton, Telluride-Rico, Lake Ciry-Creede, Steamboat Springs, or Pagosa Springs. For example, the Father’s Day forecast for Grand Junction is 100F, while Steamboat Springs is 84F and Telluride 76F!
Oh, Steve, if only! We’re keeping cool as best we can while we work to complete our building project in Delta: a Lutheran elementary school. We quickly learned to start work before 6 so that we can quit before the hottest part of the day.
We have visited the higher elevations and really enjoyed the views, welcoming people, and the cooler temps! (Delta is hovering near triple digits temps again today.)
I’d love to hear about your favorite spots since you have decades of experience in CO. In the meantime, safe travels!

It’s so hot I moved to Florida to cool off. For real: the month of May had only three days not in the 90s. I have no idea how hot it has been since May, but my thermometers have given up. They are just resting at zero, waiting for the Fall to arrive.
Thank you, Gail! 🙂 All were pretty amusing. 🙂 No, sorry, I don’t have any of my own. My delivery usually kills any joke that I attempt to repeat to someone, so I lack incentive to. 🤔😯🙁 Have a great week and safe travels! 🙂
It’s so hot our trailer is now a giant 3 in 1 convection oven !!! It’s so hot we have to leash our hot dogs outside !!! It’s so hot that there’s no problem finding a campsite (maybe). Oh well, that’s all I got…. Lol
