If you’ve been on the road lately, you may have noticed that more and more Love’s Travel Stops are putting in accommodations for us RVers. In fact, many of you weighed in on a poll saying that you have already dipped your toes in staying at a Love’s.
The company has committed to RVers with a variety of things, including offering overnight accommodations with hookups at some of the company’s 670 locations in 42 states. These accommodations range from flat pads with water and electric to full RV parks with a number of amenities, including pickleball, dog parks, and laundry facilities.
Even at locations where they don’t offer paid overnight accommodations, many of their facilities offer larger parking spaces so RVers can go into their stores, which typically feature clean restrooms and an extensive number of food and beverage options. Many of these facilities include full fast food operations, but there are always aisles and aisles of snacks of all sorts, from fresh fruit to things I shouldn’t eat but love.
Among the reasons we seek out Love’s on our adventures are the fuel savings—with their free rewards program, they offer 10¢ off per gallon of gasoline and, currently, are offering 25¢ off per gallon of diesel fuel at the retail (not commercial truck) pumps.
What’s at a Love’s Travel Stop?
There isn’t just one format for Love’s. They range from smaller filling stations to enormous facilities that offer overnight parking and fueling for commercial trucks. The company is also growing its locations that offer specific RV-related services, including overnight spots for RVers.
The company has seen a good response to offering sites where RVers can spend the night for a fee. These can be just water and electric or even full-hookup sites. The placement of these is anywhere from in the main lot of the facility to a completely separate RV park with amenities in addition to the basic hookups.
There are often picnic tables, and some have covered areas, pickleball courts, dog parks (I saw someone exercising a horse at one once), and general grassy areas.
Easy to book a site
Something consistent in all of their RV facilities is how easy it is to book them. Using the Love’s app, you can simply find a Love’s Travel Stop and book the site right there in the app. The only other system that’s even close to as good as this is KOA, but the Love’s app is the best I’ve experienced.
When you get to your site, you simply check in with the app or a kiosk, and the water and electric are turned on for you. If there are sewer hookups, the sewer connection is unlocked automatically.
At spots where there aren’t sewer hookups at the site, most Love’s have a central dump station, and many of them also offer propane fills as well. I’ve loaded up on propane plenty of times at Love’s.
More locations with fast food
The company is also offering more and more locations with one or two fast food offerings. I’ve seen choices of just about every fast food joint out there at Loves.
Since many of these are also truck stops, they offer showers, and some even have laundry facilities. If you have this vision of a truck stop shower as something you’ll need to take a shower afterward, you haven’t seen how fancy these shower facilities are. They’re nice.
If you listen to the podcast interview I’ve included below, you’ll notice that I mention the coffee multiple times. Love’s has these coffee machines that grind the beans for your specific cup of coffee. Many of the facilities have two of these with three bean choices each. They make some great coffee, by my standards (I’m pretty picky), and the price is really fair. Plus, if you ruin your coffee with creams and flavors and sugars and all of that, they have plenty of choices.
Something I should stay away from, but don’t, are the roller foods. If you picture one of those hot dog rollers from convenience stores of yore, you’ll know the device. But Love’s has a number of things they cook on these, and I’m a fan of all of them. I’m sure they’re not healthy, but life is a terminal condition as it is.
Peggy is particularly fond of their chicken offering, which is a slightly spicy and very tender package of chicken wings and drumsticks. We’ve probably eaten our weight in these over all our travels.
More offerings
Lastly, the company is also expanding the offerings in their facilities, including now offering RV tires and other things we RVers might find ourselves in need of along the way at some locations. There are also some facilities with huge truck washes, and they’ll gladly spiff up your RV for you.

Who is Love’s?
Love’s is still a privately held company, much like Buc-ee’s, but the Love’s family actually likes RVers. Not that I’m casting aspersions on Buc-ee’s and their “F” rating from the BBB…
Something I’ve found is that it must be a positive experience to work at Love’s, as I’ve found the vast majority of their team members are really nice and polite, and can answer questions and such.
The good, the bad, and the noisy
Let’s be honest, first of all. These are not places I would choose as part of a vacation stay. In other words, they’re not some RV resort where you’re expecting some great peaceful setting along a lake.
What they are is a very, very convenient and well-maintained place to get off the road and rest in your RV.
Almost all the Love’s locations are very close to a highway, so, naturally, they’re as busy as the adjacent highways. For the most part, they are very brightly lit, and there is continuous truck traffic. Depending on where the RV sites are located, this can be at some distance from where the trucks come and go—or almost right in the path of where trucks come and go.
They’re also not cheap. I’ve paid from the mid-$40s to the mid-$60s. But something that’s always true: everything works very well, the sites are level, and the place is clean. Since this is a newer venture for the company, the equipment is newer, too.
The goal is really to find a place to rest on your way to wherever you’re going, rather than to seek out a place to share in photos with your friends on Instagram.
But something I haven’t found is that availability is limited. Any time I’ve decided it’s time to get off the road and rest for the night, and there’s a Love’s RV stop, there is a place for me.
The other thing is, if it’s late at night, I can book a reservation right then. If it’s early in the morning, same thing. The adjacent Love’s convenience store and, more importantly, the bathroom therein is going to be open, well-lit, and clean.
Learning more about Love’s
If you don’t know, my wife and I do a weekly RV podcast where we try to learn from people in the RV space. We had the chance to speak with Jim Wheeler, Director of RV Operations for Love’s. I’ve included the video interview here, but you can also listen to our audio-only interview with Love’s here. Heck, you could even subscribe to our weekly podcast! What a great way to while away the miles.
While I don’t think that the Love’s RV Stops are going to supplant traditional campgrounds any time soon, I do believe they offer something good. Many of us still don’t make plans before we leave, or don’t plan all the stops, and find ourselves weary after all those miles. With how easy it is to book at Love’s RV Stop and how dependable they are, there is definitely an appeal there. We’ve stayed a number of times and likely will do so again in the future.

While Love’s may be a nice place to stay and fill up, their diesel prices are ridiculously expensive, typically 50 to 90 cents more per gallon than nearby stations. Even with the 25 cent discount on their app, still very expensive and forces you to use their auto pumps vs the truck pumps, making maneuverability tricky. With a 100 gallon fuel tank, that’s very costly. I much prefer Bucees as they have the best prices, very clean restrooms and superior quality food to most Love’s. Maneuverability can be tricky at some Bucees (mostly due to traffic), but it’s still easier than maneuvering through Love’s auto pumps. As for staying overnight, haven’t tried that but sounds like a viable option.
Loves rv stops.
i wish Loves could do something about the folks that park at the gas pumps and do their shopping etc. too many times I pull our class A into a gas lane only to wait for someone to return to their vehicle with a bag of snacks.
That is also a raw nerve for us. People are just inconsiderate. I never leave my vehicle at the pumps when there are people waiting. If there’s multiple lanes and the place is deserted, that’s different story. Even then I’ll keep it to a minimum.
The worst is any filling station where you’re sitting there with a trailer hung off the back of your truck and waiting for someone to GTFO and then they return with their hands full of snacks and then start pumping fuel. But this isn’t just Love’s – it’s just inconsiderate jerks.
Was super excited when Love’s started their RV area’s…..but then the price skyrocketed from the $20ish range to now some are in the $60’s!!!!!!! Yes, they are convenient, but come on for an overnight stop I find it extremely overpriced. Who needs a pickleball court at a truck stop??
Yes, for the purpose they are designed for, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Should only be like $20 for a night, not $60. Our daughter just spent this month to stop enroute to Stone Mountain and camp with us there.
Love’s works well for us. Our most frequent trip we takes by four or five Love’s, depending on the route we take. Usually we just overnight next to the dog park, grab a bite, coffee and gas in the morning and we’re back on the road in the morning. Convenient locations and everything we need in one place. And it’s free but be polite and ask first. We have stayed in one of their full hook up sites. It was kinda pricey, but everything worked great for us. Yes, it is a truck stop with lotsa traffic but never keeps us awake.
I used the RV spot once. Pulled in late, and did not need any services. Just sleep and go. I can do that off to the side out of way. 60 for a few hours is too much. It was lovely, new clean, and well appointed, but expensive.
We attempted to stop at Love’s a few times years ago with our 40 ft RV towing a car and could tell that trying to get into the car pumps at most of their locations will be impossible. So we would go to the truck pumps, and after we filled would pull forward to try to find a parking place and there was no place to park a large rig that did not require backing in … Impossible to do with the vehicle on a tow bar. I’m driving a smaller RV now, but still towing, and would not try to maneuver into a Loves except as a last resort.
The Love’s, where we stayed overnight in St. Joe, MO, was anything but clean! You could hardly walk around our site, there was so much dog poop. And, not just at our site, the dog park was a mess, too. We paid $45, I think, and unfortunately, it has soured me from ever thinking about staying at a Love’s RV Park again.
Agree with the dog poop problem! Even though most sites offer doggie bags, people don’t use them. I walk our GSD’s around the exterior areas AND pick up after our dogs! Rarely in their little tiny dog parks, which are barely big enough for a small terrier to exercise in.
I’m glad Tony has had good experiences. We haven’t. The “dog park” lured us in…it was miniscule and filthy. We use Cracker Barrel, put the $40 toward a nice meal, and enjoy the quiet after they close at 9PM. And pretty much every town big enough for a CB has an actual dog park, worth a short detour to reward a “good boy” who’s traveled all day.
As nice as the facilities may be, I can’t justify paying that much for an RV site at a gas station. We have stayed in the Ohio Turnpike overnight RV parking area, numerous times. Electric hookups, and a dump station for $20. That is reasonable. $40-$60 for a similar situation at a gas station is not.
Love’s doesn’t love gas class A RV’ers towing. All islands face the store with no room to turn a gas class A towing. Don’t ever compare them to a Buc*Ee’s. Buc*EE’s has many pumps with wide areas & fuel prices comparable to other stations close by. Love’s prices are very high at most of their stations.
Agree bumper pull 27 ft with gas F250 short bed! If I cannot get the outside pump I’m doomed! Buc-ee’s good fill usually turn radius fine. Parking for snacks/potty at some Buc-ee’s impossible. I always Google all gas stops to make sure I fit!
If you use Open Roads you can save quite a bit on diesel at the truck pumps at most Love’s.
That has been our experience. And with Open Roads, you have a choice of truck stops. I prefer Love’s – creature of habit – but will use the lowest cost Open Roads fueling center.
Love’s was my go to spot for 3 years. Now, it’s Mavericks. They have true RV lanes for gas or diesel rigs, and parking you don’t have to back into. Can’t back a toad with a Blue Ox hitch. And their fuel is better priced. Sorry Love’s, the last three I’ve tried to get into off of I-40 had no room for RV’s after your signs said RV friendly.
Maverick’s breakfast burritos are also a big thumbs up in our rig!
Absolutely no!
Horrible place to stay.
Noisy, smelly, ridiculously high priced.
Never again!
We have a large Love’s Truck stop at the end of town (it doesn’t have RV spaces though). Their diesel prices are at least 60 cents more a gallon than anywhere else in town. It’s a very nice and clean place with a Subway sandwich shop, but not worth another 60 cents per gallon.
Having been based on the West Coast I learned that if B20 biodiesel is available in the area, that’s what Loves will be selling. That makes them a no go for my Sprinter.
We love Love’s. Unfortunately, here in Ca. we have none of the newer things like the rv spaces and so on. I don’t know why that’s the case- we have plenty of rv travelers here who would value these things and use them. C’mon Love’s- lets get the newer stuff out here in the Golden State!
Maybe I’m lucky that our travels are in the western half of the US as we always find Free places to spend the night. Rest areas, large pullouts away from the highway, restaurants that have extra large parking for rv’s and trucks. No way am I going to pay $60 a night just to sleep in a gas station.
I’m glad you did not post a dishonest experience at Love’s!
We really Like love’s RV stops. We just arrived in Phoenix after leaving ne PA and we stayed at a Love’s RV every night (6). As far as buying their fuel; we don’t. The price seems ok but Ford as per my 2025 F-150 PowerBoost owner’s manual recommends Top Tier gasoline which Loves is not.
When you start out an article by saying “it is an honest review” the implication is that all your other reviews were not honest/true.
Not really sure how you draw that conclusion…🤔 Sure, if an influencer said it, but Tony and Peggy are pretty reliable.
Hi, Chris. But I think it’s more confusing than necessary, actually. BTW, Tony and Peggy are 100% reliable, i.e., always honest and upfront. Have a good night. 😀 –Diane
Aw, shucks, thank you. We try to create content that actually serves our followers well and this reply is very much appreciated.
Well this is a good point but a lot of the headlines are written based on what people are searching for. That’s the problem with life today – you have to appeal to two groups – humans and Google. But it is a point well taken and appreciated.
It’s a common way of speaking for the post Boomer/Jones generations. My own son frequently adds “I won’t lie” to statements. I’ve asked him about that and he said it was just something his cohort said and he picked up.
Thanks for that review. It sounds like a good place for an unplanned overnight stop. I don’t like to plan where I have to be by day’s ends so toward the end of the driving day it would be great to see a Love’s and just be able to pull in knowing it was safe and clean.
We’ve never used Love’s for anything. Maybe now we might.
We’ve stayed at many of the Love’s RV stops in the south, the latest at their newest stop in Mandeville, LA. Check in via the app worked great and the location of the RV spots made it the quietest Love’s we’ve stayed at. All Love’s we’ve stayed at have been clean and the utilities have worked as expected. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s convenient. We’re just waiting for more to be built for our annual trip to da UP! I only use Top Tier gas so I don’t buy their gas, but the window washers have nice long handles!
My F-150’s twin turbo V6 seems to prefer higher grade gasoline like Exxon, chevron or Shell.
Any idea where Love’s buys their fuel ?
Loves can be very hit or miss. However once I get our of Buccees territory I use them and Costco. I do love Loves app which is easy to use and I have booked a site for the night through them. It’s the people hogging the pumps that drives me crazy and nothing is done about it. Not even a sign . We drive a 31 ft class c with a fiat towed. At a recent loves stop, we pulled around to a coveted end pump. A woman had just finished pumping her gas and was in her car. She was not moving. WE had the entire gas station blocked up waiting for this woman to eat breakfast at the gas pump. I knocked at her window and was ignored. We just left.
I love Love’s and the big red heart in their logo and always go for the coffee machines (those are around $40,000 by the way) that grind your decaf or caf and then you can load your cup to your hearts content with those sweetners and creams and besides the employees are quite wonderful and dedicated. If you sleep overnite in a Love’s that might be due to your poor planning, but that said, Love’s is my go to place and be sure to buy one of their coffee cups since they got a heart on them. Isn’t RVing about Love?
I’m not happy at all about this trend. I have noticed several Love’s have designated what used to be free parking spots as “Reserved for employees” spots and I mean the entire lot. This is to push us to pay. I buy gas there. I buy snacks there. I buy food there. I don’t need hookups and I fit in a regular parking spot since I’m in Promaster van.
I’ve stayed in Loves’ RV “park” a handful of times, hoping that by using them they’d have incentive to build more. They have, but at the same time they’ve jacked the prices up. Sky High!
One I stayed at, outside Muscle Shoals, AL, was nice, but nearly all of the others I’ve stayed at have been noisy, difficult to get in or out, and no where near the price they charged.
If the prices were half of what they are, or there was a discount for those who fuel (I’ve got a 100 gallon tank) I’d probably use them again. But until then, hard pass.
There are not many Costco gas stations with diesel but if I am near one that is my preferred stop with the motorhome towing a car. Gas and diesel fuels are top tier and almost always the best price, far better than Loves or Pilot. For propane, U-haul is a good choice.
You can also spend the night at Costco, ask first of course. They ask that you park along the wall – usually in an area near truck docks. I’ve stayed numerous times and it’s always quiet. No hookups though! lol
Only problem with Costco, unless you go very early in the morning or very late at night (near closing), can be very tight to get your RV in and out, depending on your setup. We have a 27′ Class C. When it is by itself (or how we used to travel, with a Honda PCX150 on a lift at back), I was fine going to Costco. But now we tow a 10′ trailer with a trike on it, and that makes it a lot rougher. We did park overnight at Woodbury, MN Costco and pulled over to the gas station around 8am. Hardly any cars, so pretty easy. Guy working there chatted me up about my trike.
Trips don’t always go as planned due to weather, traffic, etc. It is nice to have Loves as one more overnight option given that once welcoming (Walmart, etc.) businesses are hostile.
We always buy Cracker Barrel breakfast in gratitude (good food and coffee too) for their hospitality. Hope CB learned being “woke” was bad decision. Loves needs to profit or they can’t provide services. Buccees = clean bathrooms, expensive food, crowded, and anti-RV overnights. Not impressed. Heck, McDonalds has clean bathrooms, great coffee (senior citizen discount coffee) and usually parking spots. Gas Buddy is your friend.
No wonder people stay at Walmart. Loves was supposed to be a cheap option to get off the road overnight. $68.00 to stay in a glorified (noisy) parking lot is ridiculous. Keep your pickle ball courts and dog parks. RV travelers need an overnight spot with or without hookups. Greed got the best of Loves. Harvest Hosts has it going on. Support your hosts.
Yep, that is ridiculous. We did a 6 week trip and stayed at several campgrounds in KY, KS, CO & ND. We never paid that much per night, and we had full hookup (except one state park, but only 2 nights), so we were fine until our next campground. The Love’s overnight spots should be like $20 ($30 the very max). and it’d be fine if they were electric only.
