We have stayed at the city park in Sopchoppy and, yes, $20/night is affordable. But $48/night + electricity is not “affordable” in my book.

“Affordable” is every state park in New Mexico! Resident-non-resident rate of $14/night + $4 reservation fee (including the vehicle day pass) for 30/50A W/E campsites with a picnic table, firepit, flush toilets, free hot showers, sanidump, and generally a lake, boating, fishing, hiking and biking trails, wildlife viewing, etc. The spillway at one NM SP exposes dozens of dinosaur tracks, another allows collection of minerals from its rock outcrops, and one has a coal mine ghost town complete with signs and photos describing its history.

Thank you, Gail! I know a few in Canada and Alaska, but not in the lower 48; sorry. 🙁
