How much of your holiday shopping is finished?

According to a piece of trivia we ran last Friday, the days between Friday, Black Friday, and tomorrow, Cyber Monday, capture 20 percent of all holiday online shopping. Wow! It is hard to argue with all those sales. Have you seen the prices?!

Have you started your holiday shopping yet? If so, how much have you done? Are you all finished? Have you just barely started? Not started at all yet? Or do you not do any holiday shopping?

After you vote, please leave a comment. What gift are you most excited to give this holiday season? We want to know!

With 6 grandkids between the ages of 22 and 36, 4 girls and 2 boys, we have been sending them gift cards since we started becoming snowbirds in 2012.

My grandchildren are all adults and they learned several years ago grandpa doesn’t buy for them anymore. I use FB to wish them Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. They do the same for me.

For the ones voting “All of it and Most of it”, how many are on your list, two, three? Hell, it’s only been two days since Black Friday, lol!

Not yet. Still early. Since everyone is an adult, probably gift cards. One size fits all.

Growing up with lots of cousins my aunts only bought for those under 21. We’ve kept that tradition going. Christmas is for the kids. Our nieces and nephews get a small gift and check for their college fund (I’m practical).

Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is still a month away, so is there a certain time you must shop for something in between?

First our kids moved out of state (followed by young grandkids), then we became snowbirds. Easier to store stuff at the house, wrap & ship than haul it south in the travel trailer. We always have some additional purchases, but most of it is gone before available storage and floorspace shrinks.

When my in-laws were still alive, they came up with this unique idea. We allotted $100 apiece for each of us to buy what we wanted for ourselves. Then we wrapped the gifts and did the usual gift-opening ceremony on Christmas. This way we always got what we wanted with no need to return stuff. It was fun to see what each of us REALLY wanted – and got. A bit odd but it worked fine. Our kids are grown up and gone. No gift exchanges needed.

Our family gave up gifting for anyone over 12 years ago. If you HAVE to give to make yourself feel good, we give cash. They get what they want, we don’t waste time, resources and money shopping, just because the TV says you must. It’s about Christ, not shopping.

We don’t shop, well very little. We give cash to the grand kids, they get what they need or want. Just works better, as others have said it about Christ. Not shopping.

Wife and I do not shop for anything other than food. At our age we need NOTHING.Children and grandchildren need nothing. As presents cash. Best to buy what they want. Again, not a need, it’s a want. And NOT gift cards. They forgot they have them.

Kids and grandkids all get gift cards the last few years. They can then choose what they want. It used to cost more to ship the presents than what the actual cost of the gifts were.

I do the majority of my Christmas shopping early and, except for a couple small items, I’m done. It makes celebrating Christmas much better because you don’t have the pressure of finding gifts.

Christmas presents are the reason the vast majority shop. Not “ Holiday” shopping. We have to appreciate that is something very specific and special. We actually avoid stores that celebrate Holiday, and shop where they want Christmas shoppers?

There are over 30 celebrated holidays in November and December with most clustered in late December, it is definitely the Holiday season.

Sudden change in plans — just a little over a week before Thanksgiving I was diagnosed with a bad rotator cuff tear & it was repaired 2 days before the big day. Now i’m 1 handed for at least 6 weeks.

10%. Still waiting for the children and grand children to submit their “like to have or need list” otherwise it’s gift cards.

DW is our shopper. I did buy a gift for DW, and she is the only person for whom I buy. So, technically my shopping is done, but most years, this one included, she tells me that we cannot afford me buying her a gift. Although it isn’t accurate, that is how she usually feels.
