As RVers, we meet a lot of new people. And we mean a lot! Think about all the people you cross paths with in just one campground alone!
Have you met any of your close friends while RVing? A few of them? A bunch of them? How many of your close friends are also RVers?
If you enjoy meeting other RVers but are unsure how to keep those friendships going after you leave the RV park, this article by Nanci Dixon offers great advice.

We have met many people when we were RVing, some we have become friendly with, especially with those we see every year at the same rally, but I’m not sure I would label them as “close” friends.
The poll is a little misleading. Close friends at home are different than the ones we’ve met while traveling?
We have made a lot of friends during our travels, but none of our ‘close’ friends at home RV.
We do have one neighbor that has a TT, but we don’t travel together.
Lost a good camping friend this past winter. Rest in Peace Mike Rowe, not the one from the TV show.
Sad to say, we don’t have any “close” friends.
We have stayed seasonally in the same RV park for the past 7 winters as has a group of people. We have developed friendships that go beyond our time in the RV park. Indeed, following the mis-management of the park after a sale, we (and a few others) have moved to a different park to keep the close friendship and we will meet with those who went elsewhere. While everyone stays in touch electronically between seasons, many of our group will meet up with these friends elsewhere in the country. We have more RVing friends than we do in our hometown.
We had one couple that were close friends and we occasionally traveled together. However, as we aged and life changed that became a thing of the past. Now I travel to meet up with new RV friends at rallies.
We have a few friends and family who RV, but we rarely RV with them. We had a seasonal site for three years, and made many friends there, that we shared beers and campfires with. We still stay connected on the campground FB page, and cruise through on occasion. As for while travelling; the transient nature of RVing is not conducive to making “close” friends, but we have met a lot of good people in our travels.
Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 My closest friends are the guys I ran with, trained with, raced against during high school, college, grad school, or after I began working. A couple of RVing friends are developing into close friends. I see several of my former running buddies, many of which I have known for 45 or more years, 2 or 3 times a year. Alternately, we see our closest RVing friends once every two or three years. Thanks and safe travels! 🙂
Just got back from a 4-day weekend with 40 RV rigs close friends. We used a park with only 40 spaces and a great club house. We have been doing it the same weekend for many years. Great company and fun together.
