When you read a book, whether it’s at a sticks-and-bricks home or in your RV, is it most often a printed, physical book or is it an eBook? Does it depend on where you are? We know many RVers read physical books while they’re at their sticks-and-bricks home, then switch to eBooks while on the road.
Please tell us in the poll below. If you want to share in the comments below what book you’re currently reading, we’d love to hear! We’re big readers here at RVtravel.com. Happy reading!

Print all the way. No battery to charge.
All three: printed and ebooks in my recliner and audio books in my truck seat when in route .
I like the tactile feel of a book and I try to avoid any further slavery to the digital world. In fact, I’m ordering a book today to take to a campground this weekend. And, yes I’m ordering the book digitally and made my reservations digitally.
Large print please. Easy on the eyes. Wife reads on her tablet, and printed books. We also listen to audio books down the road.
Please Put Chart it in Legible colors. Blank Screen or very faded art work.
States results but unreadable main chart.
I thought my eye were failing me.
Good reason for real books!
Sorry, Bill. We’re fixing the poll now. The poll provider changed the format after I had proofed it. Take care. 🙂 –Diane
I couldn’t read the choices. Mostly print.
Sorry, Kenneth. The format was changed by the poll provider after I had proofed it. We’re fixing it now. Have a great day. 🙂 –Diane
havent read an e-book and have no desire to do so. love the printed books and i read a couple of books a week!
I read mostly in bed before going to sleep. If I were to read a book and fell asleep it would fall on my head and give me a concussion. 🙂 An ebook is just so much more practical in an RV. Takes up little room, can download books whenever you have a connection. Don’t have to rely on old titles left behind in the office. Don’t have the stale, moldy smell of an old book permeating your space.
I voted for mostly printed books. However since downsizing from sticks ‘n bricks to mostly full time rving, I’ve most consistently listened to audio books. My new (2021) rv doesn’t have a cd player so I’ve downloaded them to an old cell phone from my library account on the Libby app. Free, works great, and i can listen when driving or parked. Fantastic when somewhere without internet or TV reception! Just download several in advance.
Couldn’t read the poll, so touched where I thought my answer would be, wrong it was for ebooks. I read printed books then pass them on for others to read. There’s just something bout a hardcover book…
Sorry, Lazy Q. The poll provider changed the typeface after I had proofed the poll. We’re changing to a different theme so you’ll be able to actually read the choices again. 😉 Have a great day. 🙂 –Diane
Printed books for me. Love campgrounds with a book exchange.
Poll screen too dark over the print. Can’t read print to vote.
Sorry. It’ll be fixed soon. The poll provider changed the typeface since I proofed the poll. Take care. 🙂 –Diane
I haven’t read a book since I discovered Oliver Twist wasn’t a Bartenders Guide!
(Couldn’t read the poll, too dark)
Found a little hack for that. Click on the “View Results” then you might be able to read the options a bit better. Click back to vote
Sorry, MrDisaster, and others. Something happened on the part of the poll provider (since I proofed the poll) and I’ve just notified one of our tech people about that issue. (The typeface was changed to blue.) Hopefully it will be corrected shortly. Thanks for letting us know. Have a great day! 🙂 -Diane
Still wasn’t working at 6pm PDT. I clickd on one could read the others and figured if I hadn’t gotten it right could go to “change my vote”.
Sorry, Vanessa. Thanks for letting me know. I updated a bunch of the polls today. The poll provider was having problems, so I went in and manually fixed some of the most recent ones, and was sure I fixed that one, but obviously not. Try it now. I apologize. Have a good night. 🙂 -Diane
Sorry, JTilson. It was fine when I proofed it, but something happened with the typeface on the part of the poll provider. I’ve asked one of our tech people to check into it. Should be fixed shortly. Have a great day! 🙂 –Diane
Printed books, almost always. I love the feel and the smell of a real book.
When we started full-timing we donated most of our massive library to Friends of the Library and converted to e-books. Though we no longer full-time we continue with the E-books, with the exception of my wife’s large cookbook library.
Printed books are much easier on my eyes. Has something to do with the screen with ebooks and diabetes. And I only read a book maybe once a month. Most readings are magazines and my RV Travel daily.
Magazines
Books on my B&N Nook or the Nook app almost exclusively.
My wife reads daily printed books, I like Audio Books so I can do others things while I listen, even riding my Can Am Spyder too!
I don’t even read a printed newspaper anymore. However the DW is the exact opposite. I bought her an e-reader and she hated it. In a RV, space and weight matters and my tablet takes up less room and weight than just one book.
I would love to read more real books but the ebooks are so convenient. Can get free books through Book Bub and have so many if I live to be 150 I’ll probably never read them all. Plus I can get books from the library no matter where I am and don’t have to go there.
Mostly I read printed books, but sometimes I read books that are PDF files. So, too, with magazines.
Someone else mentioned Book Bub, but between that and Amazon Kindle Unlimited (included in Prime), there are so many cheap or free ebooks available, that it’s just too convenient.
Because I am dyslexic, I almost exclusively listen to audio books. And as a bonus, audio books help pass the time traveling on long days.
Wow, Julianne! I had no clue that you’re dyslexic. I sure can’t tell when I proof your (always excellent) posts, because you have way fewer typos than anyone! I’ve never listened to an audio book, but I remember as a kid we didn’t have a TV until I was in junior high school. We did listen to radio programs and I sure enjoyed those. I don’t have time to listen to audio books at the moment, but I can imagine how enjoyable they would be to listen to on a trip. Have a good night. 😀 –Diane
