How often do you read the print edition of a daily newspaper?

The glory days for newspapers have passed. Readership is way down, especially among younger people. But the printed editions of many newspapers are still being published, and there are still many loyal readers who read them.

How about you? Do you read a daily newspaper every day — maybe even get it delivered to your front door? Or are you an infrequent reader, perhaps just buying a copy when you pass by a newsstand and see a front headline that you just can’t ignore?

Please let us know. And remember, if you’re on a slow internet connection it can take a few moments for the poll to load. So stand by.

I only read the printed edition when I am waiting at the dentist or doctor’s office.

We have it delivered to our house. I really do not like searching the online edition for articles. I can flip through the printed pages at my leisure.

Local area newspaper folded after over 100+ years of publication. Local entertainment weekly is filling in the void.
I miss the Sunday comics.

I never read a daily paper because there is none where I live. The closest one is a Little Rock newspaper which is extremely left-wing leaning, and I’d have to drive 25 miles to get one, though I’d still read it. Seems most of the press is biased. And I REALLY miss a daily paper, no matter their politics. Way better than trying to read off the internet.

While I get all my news from various online sites my husband reads a newspaper everyday.

I read our local eNewspaper electronically for 10 years. Its a duplicate of the print paper. The print paper stopped delivery September 1, 2023. Mostly I read local news, state and national news get other locations.

Don’t. It’s in the iPad and phone. No use for all that paper.

I went to buy The Globe & Mail here in Toronto and it was $5.00! I won’t pay that kind of money anymore for day old news. Too bad as I used to enjoy spreading out a newspaper with a hot cup of coffee.

Most days – while we are in residence at the house. I also have digital newspaper subscriptions. When seasonally residing in our RV, I mostly read digital newspapers.and only rarely pick up a paper edition.

I don’t read a “daily newspaper” but I read The Epoch Times every week and the online Epoch Times every day.

Me too, John. I do exactly the same. I also comment a lot ‘over there’.

Printed news paper is too expensive and reports news with a bias

We live far from where daily newspapers live. Our newspaper is a weekly. Same for the place we lived before. Once in a great while, when in a “civilized” place I’ll read a paper.

We don’t read our local newspaper because it has become way TOO liberal!!! My wife does read the weekly edition of the Epoch Times.

Print edition of a daily newspaper? Do they still exist? I sure do miss my morning paper to go with my coffee!

Like others, our local paper is a weekly. I can’t get a daily paper that isn’t at least a day old, so I read the digital version. That version can follow me everywhere I roam. For over 30 years I read the print version delivered to the house early each morning–after 15 years I still miss it.

I peruse a print newspaper if a restaurant I’m breakfasting at has one lying around while I’m waiting for my order, or if it’s a freebie at a hotel I’m staying at. I would never buy one.

I haven’t bought a newspaper in the last 10 years. The cost has gone through the roof while the content is maybe 10% of what they used to print…….not to mention that the “news” there is generally several days old. The only benefit of reading a newspaper today would be to learn about what’s happening in the city that we are in.

Absolute last resort, if it’s laying around free, and I am bored senseless. Then only human interest stuff. “Reporting events” is all propaganda.

I buy the Sunday paper every week, for my wife. I don’t read it. I will read articles on the local paper’s “online” site. The only “printed” thing I read is my Bible. It doesn’t require a power source to read. Yes I do have E-versions, but I generally only use them when researching a topic.

I used to read a daily paper until it decided that it was too expensive and troublesome to deliver anymore. So now I am forced to get my news online.

I quit reading the local paper long ago. I went from Daily to Sunday only then quit all together. For the last couple of years I found the Epoch Times. This has made reading the paper more enjoyable. Seems like it covers all the bases and I feel it is much more educational.

Never at home. Canceled the SF Chronicle years ago. Once upon a time it was a great newspaper. Our local San Jose Mercury News was “if it bleeds, it leads”. Read Epoch Times online as well as other sources. Will read the local paper when traveling…small town papers are fun to see what is going on & the mood of the area.

The National daily print paper in my hometown is 180 degrees from my political beliefs. However, when I winter in AZ, I get the local paper delivered.

I read my local paper on line, first thing every day, even while traveling. Quit receiving the paper edition at home because of the very inconsistent delivery times, sometimes up to a … 2-3 hour differential

Growing up I read the newspaper every morning. Often being quizzed by my Dad. He was a reporter for a Seattle Newspaper for 44 years. We read the evening paper after Dad got home and occasionally we compared stories about the same event reported differently in the two papers. I must admit that I now very rarely ever read the “printed” paper. I do read the news online nearly every day.

Hi, MrDisaster. I grew up reading The Seattle Times every evening, and especially loved the Times on Sundays! Have a good night. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com

Our Newspaper is a weekly edition. I’ll read (skim) most of it. It actually covers the ‘news’ for three towns and it’s only one section, about 10-12 pages, 2 of which are business/legal notifications.

Seattle Times..My mom, sister and I all receive our pensions. Remember those?
Now: The Wenatchee World and I have the Sunday Times mailed to me.
I still read books too.

While I do scan the news feed on my phone once in a while, I much prefer print media. I have our local paper delivered every day and read it with my morning coffee. I also only read printed books, I hate E-readers.

I said “never” rather than “rarely” because I last read a printed paper more than 5 years ago. Our local paper — Chattanooga Times Free-Press — only prints a Sunday edition. Monday – Saturday editions are only available on-line. The paper provides an electronic pad to subscribers so they can read those editions.
