Drones, while sometimes controversial (depending on where you fly them), can be a very cool gadget for RVers. Who doesn’t want to fly a drone and document their travels from the sky while on amazing trips? Drone footage is incredible, and it could document some of your favorite travel memories of all time!
Do you bring a drone with you on your RV trips? If so, all of the time or just sometimes? If not, check out all these drones. You may just want to bring one on your next trip. As long as you follow the rules!

No, they seem to be illegal nearly everywhere I go.
I don’t have the space to store my drone in the RV, but so many places have restrictions on flying drones, that I found it not worthwhile most of the time.
Ops I don’t own one of those. Really have no use for one either.
I have flown remote control aircraft for a longtime and have had a drone for nine years and did get my FAA certificate to fly drones commercially. It has become so difficult to be able to fly due to restrictions and bias against using them as a camera platform that I rarely have the chance to use the drone. So now I am getting into RC rock crawling trucks which rarely does anyone not like and some campgrounds have RC tracks.
I’ve had a drone of some sort for over 10 years, I used to bring it with us all the time but it turned into a PITA. It took up a lot of space in my truck and, many people have no idea what drones do and don’t or can’t do. They get all crosswise about it and complain but will not let me show them how it works or what it really does. Not worth the hassle. If we’re going out in the desert I may bring it. Newer ones have all kinds of ridiculous “geofencing” that is not applicable in the real world.
Even flying a Drone for recreational purposes requires that it must be registered with the FAA and the person flying it needs a license from the FAA. Check it out:

I have a mini-drone that takes up little space in our RV. As others have said, there are significant restrictions on drone operation. And know those restrictions are enforced. National Parks and many campgrounds prohibit their use. There are still a lot of places where some beautiful things can be photographed or videoed. And I am a landscape photographer first and a drone pilot second. I am not buzzing gatherings of people or wildlife for the thrill of flying.
Every time I see a drone I think about my 12-gauge.
Good one Les! Could be laugh of the day!
PULL !!
I liked the story awhile ago about the eagle grabbing a flying drone. Yay, Eagle!!👍🤣 Have a great day, Bill and Les. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
I remember that, it was a good story 😁
Enjoy the rest of your day too!
Will do. Thanks, Bill. 🤗 –Diane
Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 I own one, but it is a cheap (?) one that uses a smart phone application. All our phones are too big for the control console, so I have only tried to fly it a few times. Too much trouble and too many rules about flying it to take when we travel. Were DW or I a YouTube video creator, then I might travel with it, but neither of us is. Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
On rainy days and when she can’t get a Cubs game signal she just drones on and on.
Gee…I thought we were the only people that didn’t have one!
Well we would but the first time out with my new drone (I won it at my hubbies Christmas party) he got it stuck up in a tree. Not sure it survived the drop when he put a step ladder on the top of the 5th wheel & climbed up & wacked it with a rake to dislodge it.
