Being an RVer means you do a lot of driving. And driving for so long makes you hungry. Reallllllly hungry. Sure, you probably love a home-cooked meal just as much as the next person, and also a nice steak or grilled piece of salmon from a nice sit-down restaurant also as much as that person, but sometimes fast food is your only, or the quickest, option.
If you had to select just one (yes, just one!) chain fast food restaurant from the choices below, which one would you choose? Say they were all available up ahead at the next exit, which direction would you steer the wheels?
Would you go straight to McDonald’s? Burger King? Taco Bell? Subway? KFC? Panda Express?
And, yes, we know we didn’t list every fast food option here. We just went with the biggest ones. But, yes, the list could have been very, very long!
Even if you don’t eat fast food often, you still probably have a favorite. So come on, tell us!
Oh, shoot, now we’re hungry…

Raising Cane’s !!!
None are my favorite and might eat at a fast food place once every three month as a convenient quick meal if not feeling like cooking. Then it’s always a disappointment on quality and money spent.
Flawed survey which didn’t separate Subway and Jersey Mike’s and failed to include In-n-Out Burger. Personally, I rarely eat at any of them.
If you live in Ca. you can soon say goodbye to In-n-out.- Doing business here is too complicated and costly.
The way I understand, In n out is not leaving California- just the owner and her family. Some support people may go also, but the restaurants will still be in the golden state.
I completely agree about Jersey Mike’s. It’s many levels higher than Subway, IMO.
Never heard of In-N-Out.
In-N-Out tops them all. Wish we had one on Florida!
Jack in the box
Love their cheap little tacos!
Not on the list. Whataburger.
DH and I used to eat at the Whataburger in DeLand FL while at Stetson University. LOVED it!
Culver’s
We favor Dairy Queen. While they don’t offer a big selection, at least it’s made fresh when you order, not sitting around in a bin waiting to be assembled.
Compared to many others, Dairy Queen’s Meal Deal is a bargain in fast food these days and you get more.
Mikal- did you go to Elementary School at Claremont in S Arlington VA?
DH and I split a 6 pak of fried chicken tenders w/sausage gravy and finish w/a vanilla malt. We don’t go to Steak n Shake anymore since they dropped malt. Anyone can do a shake. Dairy Queen actually uses milk (at Mickey D’s it’s whey)
we seldom do fast food when home, it’s just not that appealing, when on the road we occasionally will. We prefer Subway because we can watch them make the sandwiches or chick-fil-a. We had a few bad experiences with a couple of burger joints and just don’t trust them.
Culver’s is my favorite but it wasn’t in the list.
Culvers
Culver’s mostly, Popeye’s occasionally
In-n-Out!
My favorite is In and Out Burgers, they weren’t listed as they are mostly in California and a few scattered in other states. Where I live in Oregon the nearest on is about an Hour’s drive which I’m happy to do.
You left out Hardees, the only one I eat at regularly. I often eat breakfast there.
Who eats that junk anymore…if you do you must have a grudge against your derriere.
Popeye’s spicy chicken sandwich with extra pickles. I treat my self about once a month.
On long trips we will eat Subway. At home, Culver’s. When in AZ, In-N-Out and Culvers. Dominos when they have 50% sale (not a pizza fan). Yesterday we had a burger from Braum’s …. OMG, it was terrible. I like grilling and smoking.
I’ve always liked the flame-broiled taste of BK’s burgers.- It’s the real difference between all the others. Their original chicken sandwich has a nice spicy kick to it also. Thanks for the poll!
Other than the very occasional take-out order at KFC, the only fast-food establishments that I like were not offered on your list. They are Popeyes and Culver’s.
In-N-Out for sure!!!
Whataburger should be on the list!
We like Chick-fil-A but only have maybe twice a month. My pleasure to share a gem from my grandson who interviewed at McDonalds. They ask him about his short term goals and he replied I want to work at McDonalds. Asked about his long term goals he replied I don’t want to work at McDonalds.
Great response!
The difficult thing with RVs is the ability to get in and out of a fast food place. On one trip, I needed to get on the road early and decided to stop at Chick-fil-A for breakfast to save some time instead of cooking. I had already checked the satellite view on Google Maps to make sure I could get in there. No problems at all. But, a very heavy storm came through at the same time. I got situated into a spot, and I looked up, and an employee was heading out to where I was parked to take my order. He took my order and brought it back out to me in the pouring rain. Now that’s service!
In and Out best of all!
My favorite, Braum’s Ice Cream stores, are mostly in Oklahoma. They have good burgers, salads, and chicken strips, along with wonderful and tasty ice cream, sundaes, and malts.
We went with Chikin, but actually, eat FF so seldom (only out of necessity) that it would likely be whatever was available at our point of need.
We like Culver’s. We don’t go often, but do enjoy it.
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! I voted for Taco Bell, but my choice varies with circumstances and my mood. Captain D’s for fish, Subway for a sandwich, Burger King for a hamburger, Krystal (southern version of White Castle) for hamburgers/sliders (can eat them and drive), McDonald’s for chicken nuggets (can eat them and drive), Dairy Queen or Sconic for soft ice cream (cannot eat it and drive), and Panda Express if without DW who will not eat Chinese food. Nothing wrong with Chick-Fil-A, Arby’s, or Wendy’s, am happy to eat at any. Have a great day and safe travels!
What?…wait you missed Tim Horton’s eh!
We rarely eat at fast food places BUT we do go to Burger King for their soft serve cones. Much cheaper than a Dairy Queen ice cream cone of the same size. Prices vary by location. I recently paid 74 cents for a cone, including tax. At other locations it’s around $1.50.
You forgot to put Culver’s on your poll question, the Butterburger is so good! Wisconsin did it right with the frozen yogurt and burgers!
It’s not froyo at Culver’s, it’s custard.
We still like a hot fresh Big Mac. And still haven’t found a fish sandwich as good as a Filet of Fish.
Another vote for Whataburger.
I couldn’t vote in the poll because we do not eat at any of your choices. CULVER’S is the best IMHO!
In-n-Out would definitely be my choice if it was in the poll.
