Do you usually fall asleep in the same position every night?

You can guess what time of day it was when this poll question popped into our heads…

At night, when you get into bed and just before you’re about to fall asleep, do you usually find yourself in the same position? Do you tend to fall asleep when you’re lying on your right side? Your left side? Your back? Your stomach?

Does it change from night to night—you’re always in a different position?

When it comes to getting a good night’s rest, your sleep position can make a big difference. Back sleeping is often considered the healthiest since it keeps your spine aligned and evenly distributes weight. It may also help with acid reflux, though it can worsen snoring or sleep apnea.

Side sleeping is one of the most popular and widely recommended positions. Sleeping on your left side, in particular, can improve digestion and reduce acid reflux. It’s also helpful for people who snore. The only downside is that it can sometimes put extra pressure on the shoulder or hip.

Other positions have their pros and cons too. The curled-up fetal position feels cozy but may cause stiffness if you curl too tightly. Stomach sleeping can quiet snoring, but it often strains the neck and back.

So tell us: Which position is it for you? As always, thanks for voting.

I don’t know, I’m asleep.

Usually fall asleep on my left side. But I typically alternate between left side and stomach. I don’t sleep as well on my right side or especially back – sleeping in those positions almost always result in a sharp pain in my ribs and this voice in the dark “Roll over. You’re snoring.”

Left side until about 02:00-03:00 when the pain in my left shoulder wakes me up and then I toss & turn the rest of the night, right side until pain wakes me up and my back again with pain dong it’s thing.

Usually on my back, while sitting in my recliner, before waking up and going to bed where I’ll switch back and forth from side to side..

I do too! Post dinner nap, pre-bed nap then upstairs to the bed! Normally limited to :15 min or so – getting longer tho. Now on occasion I wonder why I have a problem falling asleep – Well duh – I just had a power nap and ready to go another 4 hours!

Thank you the question, RV Travel! Typically always fall asleep on my left side. Growing up, it always was my right side. Marriage requires compromises, so I learned to go to my left 36 years ago. 😉 Have a great weekend and safe travels!

I start off on my back where I spend five or ten minutes just thinking. Then I usually roll onto my right side for a while, then onto the left side, which is where I usually nod off.
