If you’ve spent much time around RVs, you’ve probably heard someone say, “Just grab the duct tape.” It’s practically an unofficial tool in every RVer’s toolbox. Whether it’s holding a cabinet latch shut until you get home, patching a torn awning (temporarily!), bundling cords, or making a quick roadside fix, duct tape has earned its reputation as the ultimate “just in case” item.
Duct tape has been around since World War II, when it was developed as a waterproof tape for sealing ammunition cases. Soldiers quickly discovered it could fix just about anything, and before long, it found its way into garages, workshops, and eventually RV storage compartments across America.
These days, you’ll find duct tape in just about every hardware store, and many seasoned RVers wouldn’t dream of hitting the road without a roll. Sure, it’s not the permanent fix for every problem, but when something rattles loose, tears, or needs to stay put until you reach your next stop, it can be an absolute trip-saver.
So now we’re curious… Do you carry duct tape in your RV?
As always, thanks for voting and sharing your thoughts with your fellow RVers!
Oh, and if you’re wondering… No, duct tape does not only come in its famous metallic silver color. It comes in many fun designs and colors, even some that look like wood and camo.
