Do you call your spouse or significant other “Honey”? A fun survey by The Black Tux breaks down the most popular pet names (like “Babe,” “Honey” or “Dear”) in each state. According to the 5,000 responses they got, the most popular pet name across the U.S. is “Babe,” followed by “Honey.” You can see the full list broken down by geographic location here. It’s fun!
Some states were more traditional than others, with “Sweetheart” and “Darling” popping up in places you might not expect. In the South, you’ll still hear “Sugar” and “Lovebug,” while the West Coast leaned more modern with names like “Boo” and “Bae.” And apparently, if you’re in the Midwest, there’s a decent chance you’re calling someone “Pumpkin.”
It’s funny how these little nicknames take on a life of their own. Maybe it started as a joke, a slip of the tongue, or a habit picked up from your parents—and suddenly, it just stuck. These quirky, sweet, or downright strange terms of endearment say a lot about us, our relationships, and sometimes even where we’re from.
If you don’t call them “Honey,” what do you call them? Tell us in the comments after you vote.
Oh, and don’t be embarrassed!
