Forest River is recalling certain 2019 Coachmen Apex travel trailers. The inner hub bearings may not have been sufficiently greased, which can cause the bearings to overheat and fail.
If the bearings overheat, the hub may fail, affecting handling and increasing the risk of a crash.
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and repair the hubs and bearings, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 4, 2019. Customer service number unknown at this time. Forest River’s number for this recall is 51-0923.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
I’ve found, in the several RVs I owned, very little grease has been in the bearings. I’ve always checked and added grease to all bearings plus tighten or loosened the hub from factory installation.
