Thor announces huge backlog of RV orders

Thor Industries, the world’s largest RV manufacturer, released its 1st quarter earnings report December 8, and among a series of eye-popping numbers posted during this banner year for RV sales is one that says everything an RVer needs to know about the current state of the industry: The manufacturer of Airstream, Keystone, Heartland, Jayco and a dozen other brands had $8.92 billion worth of unfilled orders as of October 31st.

The backlog tripled from the same time last year, and continues to grow. Jason Epperson of RV Miles has the details in this three-minute video.

Perhaps it is time for me to sell my Aliner popup trailer and my forty year old rusted Coleman popup.

And the garbage they push out the door to fill those orders will haunt the RV industry for years to come. The 2006 unit I have is looking better than ever. The bugs in it had have been fixed.
