World’s tiniest travel trailer is 42 inches long, can fit queen-sized bed!

If you are ready to stop tent camping, but not quite ready for an RV, and if you want to be able to tow your “RV” with whatever you are currently driving, and be able to store it anywhere, then you must check out the Hitch Hotel. It’s the world’s tiniest travel trailer… at least in its compacted state. You won’t believe how small it is. In the video below, we get a tour, or I should say a demonstration, from mixflip.

The Hitch Hotel gives you options. Many people opt to mount it to a trailer, while others use a hitch receiver to carry the camper on their vehicle, like in the photo below.

bumper mounted Hitch Hotel telescoping travel trailerAt camp it becomes a climate-controlled room off the ground with lights, windows, and vents—that can fit a queen-sized mattress.

The Hitch Hotel also comes with tie-downs to keep gear, such as bikes, secure while traveling. The box will hold 400-500 pounds of gear that can be unloaded at your destination.

Watch the video at point 4:30 to see how the telescoping parts are sealed to ensure everything stays watertight.

More nice features of the Hitch Hotel

Hitch Hotel telescoping travel trailer in its expanded state

This video is a few years old. The Hitch Hotel is still basically the same shell and original features with a few nice upgrades, improvements, and available options now including:

  • Rotating tow bar can be stored up or down
  • Roof vent
  • LED lighting
  • Optional ducted heat and A/C
  • 12v 100AH lithium battery system
  • 300-watt collapsible solar blanket
  • Locking removable storage box
  • Torsion bar independent suspension

What’s not to like?

As stated, this is a step up from tent camping, so there is no plumbing or cooking facilities. But its light weight and small size will still be appealing to a lot of folks. You are getting a more or less blank canvas, which, depending on your needs and skill levels, can be a positive or negative.

Bear trap. It’s how bears trap their next meal. Gives the Smart car something to pull.

So, where do you keep your mattress when it’s collapsed? Air mattress only?

I’m fairly impressed with this as there are times when we want to take our side by side to a mountain campsite but wouldn’t take our motorhome on the so called roads to get to the campsite. We could mount the box to our atv trailer and pull it with our SUV to the mountain campsite, although it’s a little pricey for the few times that it would come in handy when looking for those type of campsites. I could see mountain bikers and hikers liking it much better than a tent though.

More innovative thinking…. Love it! Would make a neat little over-niter for hunting trips – especially geese and ducks. A bit expensive – but what isn’t?
