Tricks to using paper towel holders in and around an RV

By Gail Marsh
Recently, when cleaning cupboards, I found an unused paper towel holder. Just as I placed the extra holder into the “donate” box, I stopped to think. I quickly grabbed the paper towel holder back out of the box. I knew I could come up with some tips and tricks for using paper towel holders in an RV. So here they are!

Hint: Dollar Tree has lightweight paper towel holders for $1.25—a great bargain!

Scrunchies

A paper towel holder can easily contain all of your hair scrunchies. No more rummaging through the drawer to find the hair accessory you need. Simply slip each hair scrunchie onto the holder, and you’re set. The hair accessories will stay in plain sight, corralled on the paper towel holder.

Extra tissue rolls

Another way to use the paper towel holder is to hold extra RV toilet tissue. Since our bath vanity cabinet is so small, I can store extra tissue on the holder and free up much-needed space inside the vanity. The holder doesn’t take up much floor space and it can be positioned close at hand for easy access.

Note: If floor space is not available, you can alternatively hang the paper towel holder on a Command hook.

Ribbons

Wrapping and craft ribbons will stay in place if you store them on a paper towel holder. You may need to remove the cardboard from each end to allow the ribbon to spin freely.

Jewelry and hats

A paper towel holder will also keep bracelets and watches neatly organized on your RV dresser or closet shelf. Also, keep your hat ready to grab at a moment’s notice.

Boot holder

Place two paper towel holders atop a floor furnace vent. Then position your wet boots upside down, one boot over each holder. Your boots will dry in no time!

Yarn dispenser

If you enjoy knitting or crocheting, repurpose your paper towel holder into a yarn dispenser. Slip the yarn through the holder’s spindle, and it will keep your yarn organized and prevent tangling as you work on your latest project.

Hang coffee mugs

If you have a sturdy paper towel holder, you can hang several coffee mugs from it. Just position the holder on a Command hook that is securely affixed to the wall. Remember to remove the mugs for travel days!

Hang ties and scarves

Use a command hook to hang the paper towel holder from a wall in your RV closet or bedroom. It will help keep your ties and scarves wrinkle-free and easy to access.

Hang caps

Ball caps will stay in place on a wall-mounted paper towel holder, too. Slip the back of the cap (the adjustable strip) over the towel holder. When you’re ready to wear a cap, unsnap the back of the cap for easy access.

Belt hanger

Simply slip the belt buckle onto a wall-mounted towel holder. No more searching for the right belt!

Extra hanging space

Hook clothes hangers over a wall-mounted paper towel holder for more hanging space in your RV closet or wherever you choose.
