5 hidden gem camping spots nobody talks about

By Cheri Sicard
If you are tired of the same old crowded campgrounds and overhyped destinations, then the video below from the Grateful Glamper will give you five hidden gem camping spots that most RVers don’t even know exist.

The Glamper’s five hidden gem camping spots might get frequently overlooked, but she says you should not make that mistake as they make for some amazing and memorable trips, either with or without an RV.

Now, I will put in the disclaimer that not all of these places are exactly hidden, but they also don’t tend to make the A-list of travel hype. So check them out and consider adding one or more to your upcoming travel plans.

Watch the video for some wonderful eye candy of what to expect, along with travel tips and lore about what makes each of these destinations so special.

#5 Monument Valley, Utah: A remote region on the Utah/Arizona border located within the Navajo Nation and known for its iconic sandstone formations, the breathtaking views here will blow you away. Photographers will especially appreciate the show-stopping sunrises and sunsets here. Once you see the sites, you undoubtedly will recognize some as this area is frequently used for television and movie filming, including one of Forrest Gump’s most memorable scenes. Watch the video for the lowdown on available RV camping options.

#4 Florida Keys: The Glamper shares two Thousand Trails campgrounds in the Keys that make a great home base when exploring this fascinating destination. These campground resorts are like their own little islands. With a Thousand Trails membership, they only cost $20 a night. Plus, you’ll also find three great state parks in the Keys.

#3 New York City: The recommended Liberty Harbor Campground, on the Jersey side, is right next to public transportation that takes you into the city. Yes, rents are on the higher end, but they are still FAR less expensive than hotels in the Big Apple would be, and you will have the comforts of your own RV.

#2 Pacific Dunes Ranch, Oceano, California: This Thousand Trails campground is part of the Dunes Natural Reserve, with more than 500 acres of coastal dunes that you can even sled on.

#1 Las Cruces, New Mexico: I agree that the Las Cruces area is an underrated travel gem. Watch the video for some unique reasons why, including the spectacular Slot Canyon hiking trail.
