Why RVtravel.com associates with Facebook

By Chuck Woodbury
Like many other businesses RVtravel.com has a page at Facebook. We also have two groups, RV Horror Stories and RV Advice.

Many RV Travel readers can’t stand Facebook. They want nothing to do with it. Some write me angry letters. “Why do I have to go to Facebook to be a part of your RV Travel?”

First off, they don’t need to ever go to Facebook. Everything that’s important is on our website. Personally, I am no fan of Facebook. I don’t like Mark Zuckerberg. I won’t go into my reasons other than to say I believe he has too much power and I question his integrity.

So why do we even associate in any way with Facebook? We do so because our exposure there brings us a lot of subscribers. It is very hard to grow a website like RVtravel.com without spending a lot of money on advertising. We don’t have it.

So, for us, Facebook helps us increase our readership at virtually no cost, using only our time – which we can usually spare every once in awhile.

Facebook is the Devil!
I’m an atheist. My wife worked for a subsidiary of the largest computer manufacturer in the governmental security division. They were not allowed to Facebook because it isn’t safe. You are caught up in dangerous situations whether you know it or not.

The PBS documentary on FB said dictators use it to manipulate people, destroy journalism, and consolidate power. Yeah, these are the people you want to work with. It’s a wretched, horrible site.

I won’t get into why I minimize my use of Facebook, but I would ask that you always provide access elsewhere to the information you post on Facebook. thanks, Jerry

I understand your point, but add me to the list of people who avoid ever opening up any Facebook site. Regardless of how much I would like the information on a Facebook page, I absolutely will never click on it. If everyone would boycott Facebook, the Internet would be a lot safer. More articles should be written pointing out the danger of using Facebook–as if Senate hearings aren’t enough.
