A first look at a 2025 Grand Design Lineage Series motorhome

In this video, Josh Winters, the “RV Nerd,” gets up close and personal with a much-anticipated walkthrough of Grand Design’s very first motorhome model: the 2025 Grand Design Lineage Series M 25FW. If you’ve been searching for a motorhome that combines thoughtful design, durability, and modern features, this one might be a good fit. To learn more, watch the video directly below and/or read the article.

Whether it’s the custom engineering on a robust Mercedes 4500 chassis or the extra detail in every corner of the interior, this model is different from other RVs on the Mercedes chassis.

The 4500 chassis

At its foundation, the 2025 Grand Design Lineage M 25FW rides on the Mercedes 4500 chassis, marking a significant difference in its handling and stability. Most motorhomes in this category utilize the 3500 chassis, but the 4500 brings extra durability.

What does that mean for you? Better ride quality, for one. Say goodbye to that boat-like rocking and swaying when pulling out of gas stations or tackling unexpected crosswinds. It’s just smoother, more stable and, says Josh, more enjoyable.

  • Tow capacity: Up to 3,500 pounds.
  • Solar power: 600W of solar packing versatility for off-grid trips.
  • Lithium batteries: Standard 260Ah Lithionics batteries, supported by robust charging systems to keep everything running.
  • Propane generator: A built-in 3600-watt propane generator ensures clean, reliable power while camping.

The reinforced frame provides structural integrity and allows for thoughtful upgrades not often seen in this class, such as deeper slides and a slightly widened body.

Stepping inside the Grand Design Lineage 25FW motorhome

When you first step into the Lineage M 25FW, it feels different. Grand Design went for a European-inspired vibe, blending a sleek, modern aesthetic with functional design elements that immediately catch the eye.

The ceiling, standing tall at 6’9”, features a darker color, which some might think makes the space feel smaller—but the truth is the lighting more than makes up for it. The clever use of LED lighting and natural light from oversized Euro-style windows brightens the space beautifully.

Grand Design Lineage Series motorhomeSeating and layout

You’ll have a couple of choices when it comes to seating:

  1. Power theater recliners (preferred by many).
  2. Dinette option for those who want a more traditional eating space.

The upscale seating includes durable ultra-leather coverings, designed to avoid peeling or flaking over time, providing a high-end and long-lasting look. Seat belts are strategically positioned.

The windows? True dual-pane, hollow-core Euro-style, offering incredible airflow without compromising temperature control.

Kitchen features in the Grand Design Lineage 25FW motorhome

Compact motorhomes often struggle with kitchen functionality, but the Lineage M 25FW solves that problem with these design choices:

  • Countertop extensions: Flush, solid-surface extensions give you more prep space when you need it.
  • Two high-output stove burners: Why two? Because each is actually functional for real cooking. Many RVs sacrifice performance for aesthetics with three burners, but this design focuses on efficiency.
  • Convection microwave oven: Acts as both an air fryer and a conventional oven.
  • 10.7 Cu. Ft. compressor fridge: Fully electric and space-efficient.

One surprising omission is a stovetop side splash, but for most, that’s an easy workaround if you’re gaining countertop usability on the whole.

For those who love entertainment while cooking—or anytime, really—this motorhome comes with three standard 12V smart TVs located in the living space, the bedroom, and outside.

A thoughtful bedroom design

The bedroom in this motorhome isn’t just an afterthought—it’s a highlight. Unlike many motorized RVs, the M 25FW offers an RV king-sized bed (70”x80”) with a plush, foldable mattress.

Thanks to the slightly wider design of this motorhome, there’s plenty of room to maneuver. The company has ensured this bed fits taller campers so no one’s toes are dangling off the edge.

Additional features include:

  • Headboard power pocket for easy access to USB and household outlets.
  • Composite core decking under the mattress, offering impressive durability and a thermal barrier.
  • Ample storage both under the bed and in the overhead cabinets, designed with soft-close hinges and felt padding for noise reduction.

Bathroom with smart storage

The bathroom might not be enormous, but it’s well-engineered. Wider than similar floorplans, it allows for more movement and offers great storage options, including space for a trash can—a rare commodity in most motorhomes.

  • Sink: Solid-surface under-mount stainless steel, even in the bathroom.
  • Shower: Features a removable anti-slip mat, adjustable mount for the showerhead, and a slightly stepped-up design.

One area for potential improvement is the small bathroom fan, which could be upgraded by the owner for more robust airflow if needed.

Smart exterior design

Stepping outside, one immediately notices that this motorhome is different. From the fiberglass roof to a full-paint exterior option, the Lineage M 25FW stands out.

  • Fiberglass roof with Sunsation surface: Durable, with a texturized finish to prevent accidental slips during cleaning or servicing.
  • Slide toppers: Protect the deepest slide in its class while maintaining longevity and performance.
  • Storage: Rotocast compartments with dual access. Plus, the cargo areas are seamless and capable of being hosed out for easy cleaning.
  • Safety lighting: Thoughtfully positioned LED taillights in the upper half of the rig ensure visibility, even if a bike rack is blocking some rear space.

Safety and handling of the Grand Design Lineage 25FW motorhome

Driving this motorhome is designed to feel intuitive and safe. The Mercedes chassis includes driver-friendly features like memory seating positions, adaptive cruise control, and collision detection with automatic braking.

One unique safety feature is the dual latch mechanism on the motorhome’s door, which adds extra reinforcement when traversing rough terrain. Paired with upgraded running boards and leveling systems already attached, it simplifies setup at your campsite.

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or planning full-time RV living, the 2025 Grand Design Lineage Series M 25FW delivers a compact yet luxurious solution packed with thoughtful features. Its solid construction, attention to detail, and performance capabilities make it worth considering in the motorhome market.

The MSRP for the Grand Design Lineage 25FW motorhome is around $200,000.

The tank sizes are smallish (?), Kelly F. 35 gallons fresh water and 34 gallons each for gray and black tanks. Safe travels!

It is in the video near the beginning, Richard. Think that it was ~1200 pounds. Safe travels!

Our Winnebago Sprinter Class C has the same M-B safety features, theater seats, padded ceiling, no. of burners, convection-micro, rotocast compartments, fiberglass roof, slide toppers, solar panels, Li batteries, and 3.6KW generator. But it also two non-bending twin beds, not a bendy-mattress king; no outside TV (which I hate in RV parks!); a 3.0L turbo V-6, not a dual-turbo I-4; and can tow up to 4,200# despite being on that “rocking, swaying” M-B 3500 chassis. Other than that M-B 4500 chassis (which I would love!), there is nothing unique in this Grand Design Class C. Personally, I’m perfectly satisfied to keep my “old” Navion 24V!

Thank you, RV Travel, for the video and discussion of the features. Seems well-made, based on the video, but won’t really know until people take them onto the road and use them. Were the MSRP lower or the tank sizes (fresh and gray) greater, then I might be tempted to consider this for RV #3. As is, it falls a bit short in terms of features and a bit long it terms of price. Have a great week and safe travels!
