Yes, some of us bring hairspray along when RVing but not always just to keep stray hairs in place. There are several uses for hairspray in your RV. And there’s no need for the expensive salon variety—the dollar store version is cheaper and works fine for these tasks.
Remove the goo
Remove sticky goo left over from tags and labels. The alcohol in hairspray can help break it down to wipe it away. Wait for a few minutes before wiping it to allow time to dissolve.
Loose screws
Loose screws? It’s an RV! Of course there are loose screws! Spray the screw with hairspray, tighten, then coat the head with a thin layer of hairspray.
Wipe away pet hair
Dirt and pet hair and lint stuck on fabrics or clothes? Spray a clean towel with hairspray and rub over the area. Loose hair and dirt will attach to the towel and wipe away.
Increase the traction
Out hiking and need a bit more traction? Spray the bottom of your shoes or boots with hairspray. It will add a bit more grip.
Protect those precious drawings
Kids’ and grandkids’ drawings are precious. A coat of hairspray can help preserve them. Test in a corner first to make sure that the picture doesn’t run.
Thread the needle
Need emergency mending? That needle seems to get smaller by the year. Stiffen the end of the thread with hairspray.
Bug be dead
Flying bugs bugging you? Hairspray them! Their little wings stick together and they fall to the ground. This method makes them easier to clean up than when they’re squashed in a fly swatter.
Keep a bouquet longer
Lucky enough to have a bouquet of flowers? Hairspray them and they will last longer. My husband buys me flowers often, even when on the road. Spraying lightly with hairspray helps me enjoy them longer. I love flowers even when traveling so I put the vase in a bucket in the sink and a couple of plastic cups around to secure the vase until we stop for the night.
Think you need some hairspray now? Here are some options.

Thank you, Nanci! 🙂 I had no idea; thank you! Safe travels!:-)
Thank you for the additional suggestions. Another one – if you get ink on clothing, spray hairspray on the stain, throw the garment in the wash. An old nurse’s trick.
Would spraying on your shoes soles make it more apt to collect grass clippings, etc?
