Electronic gadgetry is great—when it works. In this case, there’s a problem. Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2025 Interstate motorhomes. The Parametric Special Module (PSM) may fail to lock the controls, allowing the awning to extend during transit. An extended awning can detach, becoming a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash. Airstream awnings are on recall.

Dealers will correct the PSM pinning assignment, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 1, 2025. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411.
Background
What’s a PSM? The Parametric Special Module is an electronic interface between the van and auxiliary electronic systems. The awning manufacturer, Carefree, discovered that the awning didn’t properly “lock out” when RVs are in motion.
Airstream hasn’t dragged its feet on this one. Carefree found the issue on June 18. The next day, Airstream engineers figured out the root cause of the problem. By June 23 Airstream figured out how to fix the problem, and two days later, the company determined a recall was needed.

Digital technology overreach. IMHO, we need to reel-in our boundless fascination with controlling life from our iPhones. That probably makes me a minority of one. Sorry.
Thank you for the notice, Russ and Tina! Yes, Airstream is full-go with this recall except for the letters being mailed in 6 weeks. That seems odd. Have a great weekend and safe travels!
