Own your very own ambulance RV!

ambulance rvYou read that headline right. If you are the type of person who likes to stand out from the crowd, then this is a way to do it — camp in an ambulance.

The 1993 F350 4×4 diesel ambulance has been outfitted with most of the basic features of a recreational vehicle. The buyer could upgrade into something a little more posh. We assume, but are not sure, that the siren has been disabled.

The video runs nearly 20 minutes with an explanation of just about everything you would want to know. It’s got a good amount of storage space. The dashboard is definitely not your standard RV version.

If you are interested in the vehicle, you can call 503-893-8857.

You’ll need to call to learn the price.

We saw something like this down in Quartzsite a couple years ago but we didn’t get to look at it. We saw it driving around town, and then camped out in the “day use only” area – for several days. Kind of an interesting rig, but small for my taste.

Ambulances make GREAT RV conversions as they are some of if not the safest truck boxes on the road. VERY popular now especially if 4WD with the Overlanding crowd.

Here’s why!

When we work camped in Va., our campground was a few miles away from our assigned location, so we drove in and out. One evening we pulled in to see an ambulance sitting in the campground and our first through was “Oh, no! Hope no one is hurt.” Well, it turned out that a young couple had the same type of conversion. as the video.

As a volunteer FF, he was familiar with the county vehicles and got his at the county auction for $2K! Ambulances have all kinds of cabinets and storage. Plus, they were young and slim so the small bed was no problem. Only issue was that he didn’t realize our little CG bathhouse had no shower facilities (tenters just used the creek) so the couple only stayed a night or two. Imagine an outdoor shower could easily be added. Before they left, we did get the grand tour. Great setup, although we didn’t ask what their gas $$ looked like!
