Brilliant interior RV storage solutions hiding in plain sight

There’s never enough RV storage. Sure, you can haul in crates or shelves, but they can take up much-needed move-around space. That’s why I love these almost invisible RV storage solutions. Perhaps one will work for you.

IKEA cabinets

These IKEA cabinets are generally marketed as storage for shoes. They do work great for shoes, but they can also be used for many other RV storage needs like maps, linens, and clothing. The best part? This storage solution measures a mere 7 inches from the wall and resembles a built-in feature—practically invisible storage. That makes it perfect for small spaces like your RV. Take a look at these photos and then set your imagination free to envision how you might use IKEA’s TRONES in your RV.

Under-the-table storage

Amazon boasts more than 4,000 results for storage solutions that literally disappear under your RV dining table or any table-like application. We enjoyed these hidden storage spaces in our very first RV. I used the dining table’s invisible storage for silverware and napkins, but these ingenious storage solutions would also function as a handy place for desk or crafting supplies. The best part? Many under-the-table storage solutions are priced at under $20 and are easily installed.

Invisible chair storage

A little DIY project can introduce invisible storage into your RV’s dining chairs. Here’s a how-to video. This is a great way to store placemats, silverware, or even wax paper or aluminum foil. Trust me. If you have this storage option, you’ll find lots of ways to use it!

In the wall

Need a place to store extra cash or valuables? This invisible storage hack might work for you. It involves installing a fake electrical box into your RV’s interior wall. This video provides step-by-step instructions and would prove to be quite secure. If you hesitate to cut into the wall, consider using the idea on the side of a cupboard or piece of hollow furniture, like sofa side tables.

Behind the TV

Our RV’s television is positioned within a recessed nook in the slide out. By remounting the TV via a swing-out bracket, we can utilize the space behind the television. A Velcro-mounted magazine holder from a dollar store holds maps, brochures, and more. The clutter stays organized and invisible when the television is returned to its original position.

Hidden keys

Finally, here’s a great way to hide your keys and still have easy access. Install a hinge on a canvas or other 3D art print and hide your keys, or anything else, behind it. Luz DIYs provides a step-by-step tutorial for making this ingenious hack. Try it out!

The under table storage drawers looks like a great idea, but what’s to keep them from sliding out while you’re driving? And I suspect they would need to be screwed to the table as the adhesive would turn loose sooner or later, especially with something heavy in the drawer.

I have used two of these for years with no issues. A short screw will fasten them securely to the bottom of any table. Simply fold a paper towel and insert it into the front edge while traveling. It will keep the drawer from coming out.
