Bird Buddy is an innovative smart bird feeder that brings birdwatching into the digital age. Equipped with a high-resolution camera and AI technology, this is not your grandma’s bird feeder!
The Bird Buddy captures stunning photos and videos of your feathered visitors and provides real-time notifications to your smartphone. This modern twist on a classic hobby offers a unique and engaging way to connect with nature—especially when traveling around the country in your RV.
Getting started
You can order one from Amazon. The company also offers add-ons for the bird feeder that you may like. For example, perch extenders, suet ball holder, refill container, and more.
One model of the Bird Buddy is solar-powered, while the other, more affordable option, features a rechargeable battery. Carefully check the specifications when ordering.
Premium subscription
Bird Buddy offers a premium subscription for under five dollars a month. However, you do not need a subscription to take advantage of all the features of the feeder. You just download the app.
Key features of Bird Buddy:
- High-quality imagery: The Nature Cam captures 2K videos and 5MP photos with High Dynamic Range (HDR). This ensures vibrant and detailed images of your feathered friends. The camera’s large sensor enhances low-light performance and sharp close-up focus, allowing for clear captures even during dawn or dusk.
- AI-powered species recognition: Bird Buddy’s smart recognition system identifies various bird species that visit your feeder—no matter where you roam. The AI, trained on real bird visits, provides instant alerts to your phone to let you know who’s stopping by your campsite—even when you’re out exploring.
- User-friendly app: The accompanying app not only notifies you of bird visits but also offers educational insights about each species. You can access photos, videos, and bird songs, enhancing your birdwatching experience via the app.
- Flexible mounting options: Designed for versatility, Bird Buddy is easily mounted in various locations. For travel in our RV, we just tied the feeder onto a heavy-duty Command hook mounted to the side of the RV. (I just untie and transfer the Bird Buddy to a small box on travel days.)
- Community engagement: Bird Buddy fosters a community of bird enthusiasts through features like Bird Buddy TV. This streams bird activities from around the world directly to your app. This allows you to share your sightings, enjoy others’ sightings and join a global network of nature lovers.
Why Bird Buddy is perfect for RVers
For RV enthusiasts, Bird Buddy offers a portable and interactive way to enjoy birdwatching on the go. $150 and it doesn’t seem like it is very high quality. How long before the squirrels show up and ruin it? Lol.
Thank you for the information and discussion, Gail! This bears further consideration. [Upon discovery of the Amazon price (YIKES!?!), consideration over.] We already have three hummingbird feeders at the house. We enjoy watching such delicate creatures feed. We do not enjoy watching the bully hummingbird terrorize the other hummingbirds, but otherwise get much enjoyment from the feeders near our windows. Have a great day and safe travels!
