Creative floor plan of 21-foot Ibex travel trailer is strikingly different

In the video directly below, Josh the RV Nerd at Bish’s RV walks you through a single-axle travel trailer with a floor plan that is far different from what you would normally expect. The 2026 Forest River Ibex 16MBJ, with no slide out, is targeted at couples who don’t mind bumping into each other while moving about, solo travelers, and midsize truck or SUV owners.

Josh stresses that this trailer is not for everyone. But even those who might think it’s not right for them should appreciate the creativity that went into designing this compact unit. As usual, Josh has fun showing you around the unique RV, pointing out what he likes and what he doesn’t.

Design and layout of the Ibex 16MBJ

Built on a single axle for lighter towing, lower cost, and better maneuverability, the 16MBJ uses a corner bed layout that trades space for efficiency. The “taco truck” window boosts airflow and outdoor connection.

Interior comfort

Inside, a theater-style loveseat faces a swiveling 12-volt smart TV viewable from the bed, sofa, or breakfast bar. Not having a slideout helps keep the RV’s weight down.

Kitchen and storage

A 3-in-1 convection/air fryer/microwave oven, quadruple drawers, deep cabinets, sink and stove covers, and soft-close hardware pack full-size convenience into a compact kitchen. Storage extends to overhead cabinets, under-bed compartments, and magnet-latched doors.

Bathroom and exterior

The wet bath features a porcelain toilet, extra-large Furrion vent fan, and medicine cabinet. Outside, a griddle station is next to a utility shower. Triple-step entry, slam-latch storage, and a large awning round out the exterior.

Black Canyon Beast Mode package

Upgrades include independent suspension, water filtration, solar and inverter boosts, heated enclosed belly, and off-road tire enhancements—ideal for boondocking.

Specs and towability of the Ibex 16MBJ

GVW: 5,375 lbs.; Unloaded: 4,255 lbs.; Cargo: 1,082 lbs. Suits midsize trucks and capable SUVs with tow packages.

And so…

According to Josh, the Ibex 16MBJ isn’t for everyone—but for those looking for a rugged, compact RV with smart features and off-grid readiness, it’s a very interesting option.

One thing not shown is how the Taco window opens and closes. Opening may not be a problem, unlatch and swing out, but reaching out to close it??

I think you just nudged it up a bit and it drops down to close. Kind of nice, as they can stay open in the rain for ventilation.
