If the plan is to take the scenic route and keep going when the pavement stops, the Jayco Terrain 19YG has the chops for it.
In the video at the end of this post, Laura aka That RV Girl walks through a van that blends real off-road ability with everyday comfort. This off-road powerhouse brings Mercedes all-wheel drive, smart power, and a massive rear garage, all in a nimble footprint.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis details
The Terrain rides on the Sprinter 2500 AWD with a 144-inch wheelbase. That combo hits a sweet spot for agility in town and stability on trail.
A 2.0L twin-turbo diesel makes 211 horsepower. It pulls cleanly onto highways and climbs confidently when the road tilts up. AWD shifts power where it is needed, which helps on changing surfaces and in bad weather.
Mercedes driver aids take the edge off long hauls. Highlights include lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring. Jayco adds a ride and handling package with KONI shocks and a heavy-duty rear stabilizer bar. The result is less sway, less bounce, and a smoother ride on broken pavement.
Shown in the video in a sleek Selenite exterior color, the Terrain looks clean and ready for dirt roads. A removable roof ladder and double roof rack make it easy to haul kayaks, bikes, or paddle boards.

Standard power comes from a Lithionics 48V 165Ah battery system, good for about 7.9 kWh. It supports appliances, charging, and quiet camp life away from hookups. The 19YG shown includes a 2500W generator, and the “G” in 19YG stands for generator. Pick the setup that fits the travel style.
Interior comforts and workspace
Inside, European-style cabinetry from Tecnoform® keeps weight down and finish quality up. The hardware is built for travel, so it resists warping and rattles. The galley adds a fold-out counter that extends prep space, then tucks away to keep the aisle open.
Behind the cab, dual bench seats include seat belts, slide and recline, and car seat tethers. If extra seating is not needed, an optional workstation turns the space into a mobile office. Every Terrain includes Starlink satellite internet, so uploads, streaming, and video calls keep moving in remote spots.
Custom-fit bug screens on the side and rear doors invite airflow without inviting bugs. The compact wet bath adds a retractable clothesline, a bamboo shelf, and the Aqua View® Showermi$er™ system that recirculates water until it is hot, which saves precious fresh water.
The rear garage is the star. A power drop-down bunk holds up to 750 pounds and measures 49 by 79 inches. Raise it for gear, lower it for sleep. L-track-style mounts on the walls and floor help secure bikes and bulky equipment, and the rubberized floor wipes clean after muddy days.
Compact, rugged, and ready for city streets or backcountry pullouts, the Jayco Terrain 19YG feels like a true adventure partner.

Probably nice, but would be better and maybe more affordable if built on an American Van.
There is an RV in that video? Huh, didn’t notice.
Why, Gary? Because the gorgeous and vivacious hostess was in the way?🤔🤣 Have a great day! 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
