The holiday season is in full swing. Is this the time of year you just live for, or dread? Or maybe you just don’t care one way or another?
For many, the holiday season brings a sense of warmth and excitement. It’s a time to gather with loved ones, exchange thoughtful gifts, and enjoy festive meals. The lights, the decorations, and the music create an atmosphere that’s hard to replicate any other time of year. There’s something special about the traditions that come with this season, whether it’s decorating the tree or attending holiday events that fill the air with cheer.
However, for others, this time of year can feel overwhelming. The pressure to find the perfect gift, attend multiple social gatherings, or meet expectations can create stress and anxiety. Add in travel logistics and the cold weather in many parts of the country, and it can become more of a hassle than a holiday. Some may even feel lonely or disconnected, as the emphasis on family gatherings doesn’t always align with their circumstances.
Of course, there are those who aren’t particularly swayed by the holiday season either way. For some, it’s just another stretch of time, no different from any other. They may appreciate the time off work, but they don’t feel the need to get caught up in the rush of shopping, decorating, or following traditions. For them, it’s just another few weeks of the year, with little emotional attachment to the festivities.
Please tell us in the poll below. Feel free to leave a comment and expand on your answer.
Oh, and for the sake of defining the “holiday season,” we consider that to be November and December, around Thanksgiving and through New Year’s.

I dislike the commercialism of the holidays, but love the religious aspect. I focus on the birth of a baby in a manger.
It’s about family time not the holidays so much.
But I agree with Cookie P.
For us the Holiday Season is a break between Camping Seasons. Since we can’t camp where we live, we will enjoy the winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, my birthday) then we start biting the bullet waiting for parks to open.
So Camping Season is our favorite season!
Highlight of the year?
NO!
I enjoy life which makes it Christmas everyday in my world!
Christmas has become WAY TOO MUCH ABOUT STUFF and not about meaning of celebrating the birth of Christ! The giving, the taking, the shopping and focus on stuff/gifts is truly overblown!
When retailers and the internet start placing Christmas items out before Halloween you know this Holiday Season is way out of hand and focused too much on STUFF!
For our family Christmas has turned much more into just another Holiday to share time together.
We can buy and give STUFF to each other anytime of the year!
People buy me junk I don’t want and I buy them junk they don’t want because we are obligated by society and traditions. We have to attend parties with people we don’t like because of societal pressures. I much prefer hanging out with the friends and family that I do like, occasionally giving thoughtful gifts and supporting the charities of our choosing.
I enjoy watching our still young grandchildren. I do think my spouse goes overboard on decor and shopping. I have no objection until she starts getting stressed. And when she is stressed, my life is needlessly stressed. IMO, enjoy the season and the reason, but if things are not ‘perfect’, it’s okay. While I love the food, I believe I would be just as happy with burgers & hotdogs, potato chips and beans, all on paper plates, so long as we spend it with family & friends.
Seems the Holiday season starts earlier every year. Stores are jammed with holiday decorations early October. Even online advertising starts early.
Commercialism has totally ruined the season.
To be honest, I don’t enjoy it at all. I have to lug all the Xmas crap in from the garage, which is a ways away. Then put the boxes out there, til after Xmas, then haul them back in, then haul them back out, yada yada yada. But my wife absolutely loves it, the rest of the family loves it when they come over, so therein lies the reason I do it every year without crying about it.
I love decorating the house for the holidays because the colors and lights brighten the darkest, gloomiest season here in the Pacific NW. However, the main reason for my answer is my growing appreciation for what God did for us in sending His Son into the world. We don’t exchange gifts anymore, having all we need, though we do give gifts to our kids and grandkids and do reach out to those who have needs.
My Mom LOVED the holidays. She always went all out. This passed down to us kids. Then in 1995 she passed away the day after Christmas because of cancer. For me, this kinda put a damper on the holidays from that point on. Now, to me, I like the holiday season but don’t have the passion since she passed away.
I’ve dislike the amount of commercialism that is now placed on the holidays. It starts before Thanksgiving and keeps pounding into us, BUY, BUY, BUY… Nothing about the real reason for the season.
Our best memories are our dear departed Lab. Every year she knew which presents under the tree were hers. She wouldn’t touch them until xmas morning. When we gave her the go ahead she would pull out her presents one at a time. Then use her teeth and paws to carefully unwrap them. We miss those moments and her.
Absolutely love it! It’s always been my wife’s favorite time of the year, and after 50 years of marriage, her enthusiasm has been irresistible! So many great family memories over the years and more that we continue making to this day with our kids and Grandkids. Yes, we’ve truly been blessed. First and foremost with our salvation from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is the real reason for this season. And then with health and close family to celebrate this joyous occasion with every year. Merry Christmas everyone!
You said it better than I ever could have. My only comment is a hearty AMEN!!
I enjoy all the seasons for what they offer.
Wishing you and the RV Travel Team a great holiday season. Keep up the good work!
Cheers!
The reason we RV is our dog trial season- March thru November. We feel deprived once the season is over.
For religion, I don’t care. For me, Christmas has to do in one’s time during life. Growing up Christmas was especially important to me and our family. Dad would bring home a big tree to occupy our high ceiling. We kids got to decorate it and the surprises of Christmas morning. It was our family time and later in the day other relatives would arrive. The first Christmas after the end of WW2 we really had a lot of relatives present with either release or time off from the military including a future admiral. After my two years in the service, time at home remained joyous. After college, marriage and our own kids it was still special. Life is now much different as a senior and kids are far away
