In our weekly column, we share information taken from our Facebook group Outstanding but affordable RV parks. Also, from time to time, we’ll include our staff’s favorite affordable campgrounds. We hope to provide real options for folks looking to RV in reasonably priced, well-kept RV parks all across the country.

Ajo Heights RV Park

  • Location: Ajo, Arizona. Ajo Heights RV Park is a little over 100 miles south of Phoenix, Arizona, and 130 miles west of Tucson.
  • Amenities: Ajo Heights RV Park offers full hookups, showers/laundry facilities, dog park, and rec room for RVers to enjoy, along with spacious, paved sites with patios.

  • Comments: “Some workers, but everyone is respectful and the campground is great!” says T.R.

Indian Hills RV Resort

Lake Pleasant Regional Park

  • Amenities: Located in the “Valley of the Sun” area north of Phoenix, Arizona, this park offers opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and more. “Developed sites” have water, electricity, dump station, a covered ramada, a picnic table, a barbecue grill and fire ring. Shower/restrooms also on site.

  • Comment: According to A.R., “This county park is wonderful! Not far from Phoenix, and very nice.”

Colorado

Haggard’s RV Campground

Falling Waters State Park

Myron B. Hodge City Park

  • Location: Sopchoppy, Florida. This beautiful city park is located right on the banks of the Sopchoppy River, less than 35 miles south of Tallahassee. Myron B. Hodge City Park sits on 35 wooded acres for RVers to explore and enjoy.
  • Amenities: City water and electricity are available at each of the 26 RV sites with a sanitization dump station on premises. The campground also features a bathhouse, playground, fishing piers, public boat launch, gazebo with picnic tables, nature trails, and more.
  • Rates: $20 per night.
  • Comment: An RVer who overnighted at the park in 11/2023, Michael B. said, “Very peaceful and quiet … very clean showers.”

Georgia

Missouri

Big Creek RV Park/Arcadia Meadow Campground

  • Location: Annapolis, Missouri. Big Creek RV Park is located about two hours south of St. Louis, MO. This beautiful and well-maintained campground nestled in the Mark Twain National Forest offers many amenities that you’d expect to see in resort parks!
  • Amenities: All 63 RV sites offer full hookups for RVs, with 21 pull-through sites. Also on-site is a campground store, swimming pool, petting zoo, playground, and shower house with private restroom/shower suites. The campground is located near many of Missouri’s most popular nature enthusiasts’ haunts like Elephant Rocks State Park, Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park, and Taum Sauk Mountain. What’s more, there are several historical sites just a short distance from the park.

Shadow Bluffs Retreat

Haggard’s RV Park in Pueblo West is the “best, affordable” cg. in Colorado? I have lived in CO for 60 years and that park isn’t even in the mountains. I certainly haven’t camped in every cg. and RV park in the state, but it wouldn’t make my list of best cgs. Plus it isn’t in the book “Top 100 Campgrounds in Colorado! What about Mueller and Ridgway state parks or Haviland Lake and Stillwater USFS cgs.? All very scenic and all have electric hookups!
