Tennessee: Wind blows over a fifth wheel, trapping three

If it’s an ill wind that blows nobody good, then some Tennessee tow truck company got the “good” last Tuesday, March 26 . When a strong wind blows over a fifth wheel and three are trapped, it’s news—and work for somebody.

Quite a sensation when wind blows over a fifth wheel

It must have been quite a sensation for the three folks when a 93-mile-per-hour gust blasted the fifth wheel over at 1:00 in the morning. The rig had been peacefully parked at the Old Mountain Campground in Greenville when the tempest broke out.

Volunteers from the local fire department and emergency rescue squad responded. They managed to fish all three of the unfortunate RVers out of the rig—unscathed. Well, there may have been possible casualties: Their wits … as in, frightened out of.

While the RV took the brunt of the peak gust, winds continued to create issues in the county. Schools were closed throughout the county all through Tuesday.

In this case the wind blows over a fifth wheel. For a story on wind-blown motorhome,  family, click here.

Thank you, Russ and Tina! 🙂 My goodness! I had no idea that winds here in east Tennessee got that strong. Greenville is a ways up the road (~160 miles) from here (NE side of metro-Chattanooga). It was a bit breezy down this way, but nothing close to that that I noticed. Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
