In the video below, we join Ty Sullivan of DapperRV for a tour of the brand-new 2024 Solitude 310GK 5th wheel by Grand Design. From the unscientific perspective of my observations while traveling this country, I see a whole lot of Grand Design Solitude 5th wheels out there, so I was curious to see why so many folks like them.
For one thing, the interior of this rig is a showstopper. With the slides out you have a huge open space that is far more reminiscent of a stylish apartment than it is an RV. Big windows surround, letting plenty of light and the spectacular views of wherever you choose to camp. Despite all those windows, they managed to keep plenty of storage.
The kitchen is better than many bricks-and-sticks home, with a HUGE Furrion 12-volt refrigerator and freezer, a residential-style 4-burner stove and oven, and a large island for prep and/or seating. The enormous pantry will hold lots of provisions, cutting down on trips to the market. The kitchen is even dishwasher prepped.
I love the large 2-basin stainless steel sink. Even here, luxury rules. There is a built-in glass washer: Put the tumbler over it, press down and it automatically cleans.
The bathroom continues the sleek styling with its soft accent lighting, stainless steel sink, and teakwood pull-down shower seat.
The bedroom is huge, and this year’s model features a big improvement in the dresser. Where the top used to flip up, it now slides out to reveal storage underneath. This improvement does away with the need to clear off the top to reach what’s underneath.
And closets! Wow! The entire front cap is used as a well-organized walk-in closet with shelves, hanging space, and shoe cubbies.

What’s not to like?
Perhaps I am wrong about this, but a water line running in the slide room just seems like asking for trouble to me. But then, I would not want an RV with a slide at all, so maybe I am not the best judge on that.
Other than that, I like this RV a lot. For me, personally, I would want something smaller and simpler. However, for those looking for luxury RVs, I now understand why I see so many of these on the road. They are spectacular!

Egads! $120K for a trailer? No wonder I am in the used RV market. None the less, nice rig.
Not only do I not like the water line in the slide (as Cheri mentioned), I’m not a fan of a propane line there either. Nothing that bends should be located in a slide. The kitchen sink looks like a “farm sink” with removable options to make it a twin-section sink. I also wish RV’s could be outfitted with ADA-type toilets. Not because we are disabled but because sitting a bit higher is just more comfortable, and the elongated seat is, well, just easier to use. We’re among friends here so I felt I could mention this. 😀 😀 😀
This is half donkey design not grand design.
LOL ! 😆
And agree on the water and propane lines.
3 ducted ACs on a 34′ fifth wheel? Why?
Grand Design = Bad design…no more for me thank you…I got burned enough on the one I had.
