In the video above from Chad and Tara at Changing Lanes, we explore the topic of RV pest control, namely how to keep rodents, bugs, and spiders OUT of your RV. Our hosts claim they have had zero RV pest control problems in over three years and they created the video to share their secrets.
#1 Rodents: Be aware that rodents, especially mice, can fit through tiny dime-sized holes. Therefore, you will want to fill any and all gaps. The video shows you how using Great Stuff Pest Block.
#2 Pest repellents: Tara recommends several brands of pest-repellent pouches that you strategically place around the RV. These work for rodents as well as insects. The couple also uses ultra-sonic pest-repellent devices.
#3 Underbelly lights: The couple thinks the blue LED underbelly lights on their RV also discourage unwanted visitors. If you don’t have such lights on your RV, LED rope lights make a good alternative.
# 4 Trash cans with lids: Ever since a neighbor found a mouse in their trash can, the couple has switched to lidded trash cans, both in their kitchen and their bathroom.
#5 Additional tips: Keep the RV clean, especially regarding food. Don’t leave crumbs around, pick up food scraps, etc. Especially if you are storing your RV, get every last morsel of food out of there.
The video ends with other suggestions they have heard but don’t personally use. As these are of questionable validity anyway, you can probably tune out at this point. But the five tips above are tried and true, according to Chad and Tara.

Not a fan of the strip lights under the RV. This is quite a nuisance for those of us enjoying the dark skies and camping without being blinded by the light.!
Exactly right, Ran. Especially blue lights! Super annoying.
Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 We have tried almost all of their suggested methods and still get a mouse or two every several weeks. I think the initial advice of using the expanding foam is the most beneficial and important part of the video. Thank you for calling my attention to it! Safe travels! 😉
